Yeah you guys have been on a hot streak lately, I really hope the bruins can start winning and take over the North East. What I hate is that basically if you win the SE you are in but if not you lose. That is the weakest division. The hurricanes do not deserve to be as high in the East as they are but since they are winning the SE they are. Not fair.

The thing i dont get is how people say our divison is horrible, the pacific division. I mean i think 2 or 3 of our teams have gone to the playoffs for the past few years and the ducks even won the stanley cup....
Woo your kidding me right? Brodeur is the most deserving in the dang league I mean he is going to break Sawchuck's shutout record next season. 551 wins he will blow past, he is second or third in the league for wins. He plays just about every game ever. I am surprised he is not leading the All Star vote! Lundquist is good, all star material? I don't think so not this year.

By the way where are the tallies for the votes, I can't find them.
I think you need to look at this year's statistics. While I agree that Brodeur has arguably the most impressive resume of any goalie all time the All-Star game is all about this year. Henrik trumps Marty this year. The statistics speak for themselves.

--------GP W SA GA GAA SV SV% SO
Henrik 29 16 742 57 1.98 685 .923 6
Marty- 30 16 775 70 2.35 705 .910 2

Not to mention head to head this year the Rangers are 4-0 against the Devils with Henrik posting two of his six shutouts against them. So I have to disagree, Lundquist > Brodeur this year and thus more deserving of the nod for the All-Star game.

Nope I would disagree, at the beginning of the year the Devils where suppose to be in last place basically. They lost like every one. Brodeur's numbers are impressive for what he is playing with.

Plus do I need to break out shots of his saves against Brier and the like?

If your talking about offensive support and keeping your team in the game I don't think you can make an argument that supports Lundquist any better. He's the ultimate victim of no Goals For. Rangers have 76 GF and the Devils have 84. You do realize that the Rangers have provided nearly nothing to support Lundquist I think you will have difficulty finding anyone to disagree that without Lundquist in net the Rangers are a dead last team. No team has scored fewer goals and no team has allowed less goals then, yup you guessed it, the offensively challenged NYR.

Well yeah I mean I'm not saying NYR have a solid offense or anything but you can't deny that Brodeur is the main reason the Devils are on fire right now. I mean I'm not saying he is bad or anything I just think Brodeur is better.

As Don Cherry said the best goalie in the NHL right now is Luongo because of his potential, right behind him is Brodeur, he would be first but he is towards the end of his career while Luongo is in the earlier stages.

Marty is right on par with his career statistics so he isn't doing anything out of his norm this year. Lundquist's statistics down right trump his this year and the discussion is regarding the deserving goalie for the Eastern Conference All-Stars. I understand that we're arguing about a BMW vs a Mercedes but right now there's a clear edge to Henrik. I don't see how anyone can argue that. They've both been victim to poor support. So I would have to say the playing field is level. Not to mention the Devils system is a notoriously defensive minded system. And if I had to attribute the turnaround in the Devils play this year it goes to their Captain Jamie Langenbrunner who returned about 17 games ago, right when they started winning. Which coincidence or not they happen to be 11-6 since his return.

I dunno I still say Brodeur is better, and yeah i know we are comparing Eastern goalies here but the quote was more along the lines to show what a guy who dedicates his whole life to hockey thinks. I the end though it really doesn't matter who is better to get to the all star game you have to be more popular. And I really don't think there is a clear edge any where.

I don't call them horrible you have 3 really solid teams and if you guys keep playing like you are it will be 4 solid teams. Historically I think it has been weaker so maybe thats why?
Back before the coyotes management screwed up our team and we were good, our division was god also. I mean we usuelly played the ducks for a playoff spot and Dallas has always been good for the most part, so our divison almost always has t least 3 solid teams.

I think we had one season where our divison sucked which ruined it. That and the fact that the Kings are in our divison...

As for the goalie, its whoever has more popularity right now. To me thats looking to be new york as they are on fire as well, while they havent been in the past. I think Broduer deserves it but dont think its going to happen.

I'd join the discussion but there are all ready way too many Bruins fans here, and I'm just not used to having that much support on my side. Don't think I could handle it.

Does anyone else's home network for their teams do any "Mic'd" up segments during the game? The Rangers set someone up with a Mic be it a coach or player maybe once every other game. I think it's great for the fans, at the least I know I love it. It gives great insight to the game and I think it helps engage the average fan. I think it's fair to say that most average fans just watch and think it's a back and forth game with little strategy but hearing the communication between players/coaches is a great look into the inner workings of the game at the highest level of play in the world.

Yeah I think some of the games around here do, I know other teams do though because I have center ice and hear it a lot. It is sad people really don't think hockey is as complex as it really is, I wish I could educate all of them. lol.

I have been searching for the video and haven't been able to find the fight between the two but everything I've read so far gives the edge to Crosby in the scrap.

EDIT:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRTF9F31ezY&eurl=http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/hockey/

I found a clip. I definitely wouldn't say he lost the fight as you put it. I would have to call that a draw with the edge to Crosby for throwing and landing more punches. Not only that but in the old days before the jerseys became anchored down Ference would have had his jersey over his head right from the start as Crosby had Ference bent over tugging on his jersey. Ference landed two good shots at the end but then he just decided to tackle Crosby to the ice.
Haha I thought I was the only Bruin's fan on this board! Lived in Sudbury for 13 years before I moved down south.
I'm currently living in Brantford, Ont home of such NHL greats as Chris Gratton, Keith Jones, and Jeff Reese. Stuck in the heart of Leaf country but a proud Bruins fan for as long as I've followed hockey.

Wow, I have to watch Hockey some more... I am not a hockey fan, but I love the Red Wings and I try to keep up with Crosby.... but, geez. My Redz are dominating this season, and I am not watching! I should be at the Joe!

Yea we had a bunch of funny ones here. One time they hooked up Doan and the ref came over and asked for his autograph. :) Those of you with center ice, watch the yotes game Saturday! Doaner is hooked up again.

BTW did anyone see that goal last night by Doan? We were down 1 to 2, had a minute left. Doan checks 2 sharks to the ground and gets open, JOVO gets it to him, then bam GOAL. One of the nicest goals ive ever seen. Then Mueller dominates the shutout and we won! AMAZING game no matter what way it went.

Like Doan said, they believe they can take down anyone anyday, so they can.

Any of y'all have NHL 08?

I was surprised to actually find people playing online last night and the lag was minimal and fast. :)

Well of course! Luongo is the best goalie in the league right now and he could go down as the best of all time. Bryzgalov (sp) is doing justice for Cujo's starting spot if you ask me.
