So, it's been nearly a month since Nintendo released the Switch.

1.5 million units shipped in its first two weeks.
560,637+ units sold in its first three days in the UK, Spain, France and Japan.
"Fastest-selling" home console in its history.
"Strong" sales in the west (906,000 units in March in the United States).

Please note: OP does not contain most recent up-to-date numbers.

Switch is selling really good. I have no doubts that this console will succeed as it has a long road of improvements and additions to be had. The Switch is going to dominate this holiday sales with Mario coming out.

I'm pretty sure Lethal is referring to Super Mario Odyssey, not Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

I guess we'll know the latest numbers by the end of the month. Switch continues to be the top-selling game system in Japan though.

Here's some clarification on the strong sales in the west; Switch sold more than 906,000 units in March in the United States.

We should know worldwide sales of the Switch on April 27.

http://nintendoeverything.com/switc...ftware-at-5-46-million-zelda-at-3-84-million/

Nintendo shared some key statistics about Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as part of its financial results today.

First, total hardware shipments for Switch stands at 2.74 million worldwide. The system has also moved 5.46 million software units.

Switch generated the most sales in the Americas with 1.2 million units. Next up was Europe at 940,000 units. Japan rounds things out with 600,000 units.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has seen “immense popularity,” Nintendo says. It shipped 2.76 million copies on Switch alone, and 3.84 million with Wii U included.
Sales look pretty strong. Still sold out everywhere in my area.

I was able to buy another one last night at Gamestop. They are also getting one more classic NES that they are going to hold for me.

I sold the Switch an hour later for zero profit. I only bought it so I could sell it to someone looking to buy one without getting upcharged on Craigslist. I actually sold it for $325 and took a $2 loss..

I am just sick of seeing all the crazy hikes in prices on Craigslist. This guys little girl wanted one so it was nice to help them out. I turned down a couple other offers as I had a feeling they were wanting it to sell for more.

Is it safe to say that the units shipped for a console have been sold? I'm assuming this is the case since the second half of the article mentions the number of units sold by region and that it continues to be sold out in areas. A nice turnaround for Nintendo.

I would say that all shipped units are units sold by now.

I think so. Amazon got some Switch in yesterday, but they are already gone. Folks may find one of those $500 bundles in some areas.

Switch sales in the United States for the month of April:

Nintendo Switch was the best-selling video game hardware in the month of April in the U.S. with more than 280,000 units sold, Nintendo announced.

This marks the second month in a row that Switch led video game hardware sales in the U.S., after selling 906,000 units during its first month of release in March.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which launched for Switch on April 28, was the top-selling video game in April in the U.S. with more than 550,000 units sold (about 460,000 physical units and 90,000 digital).

The Switch version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was also the third highest-selling video game in April in the U.S.

They're really good at underestimating demand.

Demand is going to be even higher when you consider the possibility of a new Pokemon game for Switch. Super Mario Odyssey alone should see an impressive release later this year.

Switch beat out PS4 and Xbox One in July.

https://venturebeat.com/2017/09/14/...ox-one-and-playstation-4-again-in-august/amp/

Nintendo had the best-selling console once again last month, according to the industry-tracking firm The NPD Group. The hybrid handheld/home Switch system outsold Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The system has performed better than the competition in recent months likely due to Nintendo’s supply keeping up with demand. The Switch debuted in March for $300.
“The Nintendo Switch was August’s best-selling hardware platform,” NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said. “The Nintendo Switch has been the best-selling platform in four of the six months since launching in March 2017.”

When Switch hasn’t topped the chart, Sony has stepped up.
“Sony’s PlayStation 4 was the best-selling platform in both May and June,” said Piscatella. “Sony’s PlayStation 4 continues to be the best-selling hardware platform year to date.”
But while the Switch and PlayStation 4 are doing great, hardware sales overall dropped 6 percent year-over-year to $168 million. That’s because the Xbox One and older systems like Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are dragging down sales relative to last August. Sales of the Xbox One are slowing down because Microsoft is preparing to launch the upgraded Xbox One X system November 7, so consumers are likely holding back until that is available. This has not had a significant impact on the overall consumer spending on hardware this year, though.
“Year to date, hardware spending has grown 17 percent versus 2016 to $1.7 billion,” said Piscatella. “Consumer spending on Nintendo Switch and plug-‘n’-play devices, such as the NES Classic, are providing growth.”
That growth should continue moving forward. The aforementioned Xbox One X should give a boost to the revenue Microsoft generates — especially since it is debuting at $500. But Switch should continue to sell at a fast pace as Super Mario Odyssey debuts next month alongside a new hardware bundle that will include the game.

And it's still going strong. Switch sales top 2 million in the U.S.

Total hardware sales for Switch have topped two million in the United States alone since the system launched on March 3, Nintendo announced.

Switch was the highest selling console in the United States for the third straight month in September. It was also the fifth time overall in the seven months that have passed since launch that it has been the highest selling console.

When combined with the 3DS family of systems and the September 29-launched Super NES Classic Edition, Nintendo hardware sales accounted for two-thirds of September’s total video game hardware sales in the United States.

Super Mario Odyssey is really good. Love platformers like this. Nice change of pace after slugging it through Shadow of War.
