Grand Theft Auto V
(Grand Theft Auto 5)

________________________________________________

Details
The details on the game are scarce as of right now, but more is to come later on. Here's where i had seen more info on the game. Based on Rockstar's developing of future games right now, the sources expect it to come out towards the end of 2011, possibly the beginning/middle of 2012

The Title

Although it remains to be confirmed, "Grand Theft Auto V""Grand Theft Auto 5") is the most probable title of the new GTA. In the past, some titles have taken the form of Grand Theft Auto followed by the location name (e.g. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) but to avoid confusion with previous releases, Rockstar is unlikely to adopt this form with the new GTA. (or
Estimated Release Date

At present, Rockstar North's priority is the new PS3-exclusive title called Agent. Rockstar has yet to confirm the release date for Agent, but once it becomes clear we will start to get a better idea of when to expect GTA V. At a guess, Agent will probably release towards the end of 2010, which means that GTA V will most likely arrive at the end of 2011 or during the first half of 2012.
Platforms

It is very likely that GTA V will be developed and released simultaneously for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The PC version should then arrive 7-8 months after the console release, as has been the case with past GTAs.
Setting

The only thing we know for sure about the location is it's not Liberty City. So where will it be then? The sunny climes of Vice City or the smog-filled ghettos of Los Santos? Could Rockstar look beyond the USA to a European setting such as London or Paris? Vote in the poll below and discuss your thoughts on the forum.
The GTA Network (above) is the biggest, most dedicated, stand-alone website to the Grand Theft Auto franchise I've seen so far. Extremely reliable, up-to-date news if you ask me.

Possible Clue/Hint at location
---------------------------------
I came across this at gtaforums and managed to transfer most of the info here.

This guy i talked to had managed to find an image advertisment (cut out) from the game 'Episodes From Liberty City' (EFLC). He posted them in a thread and here it is:

Just bought the game and when i was reading the manual i saw a picture thats says Liberty City, It's Over ! Next stop.

here's the picture

maybe vice city ?
After, another guy ends up compiling this image with a few others and shares his theory.
I thought it was basically confirmed to be Vice city after that teaser promo for it was matched with some artwork in the PS2 Vice City.
Most people think it going to be Vice City because of the fact of how Rockstar had made their games.

GTA 3 (Liberty City)
GTA (Vice City)
GTA (San Andreas)

Then Rockstar comes along and remakes Liberty City from GTA 3. So then Liberty City started all over again with GTA IV. Because of the cycle, people now think Rockstar is going to remake Vice City in the same order, etc.

Here's a quote from a guy on another forum who has inputed his thought on why it might not be Vice City.
I know many of us are speculating about the next GTA game (that's obviously why there is a whole forum section on this website...) and where it will be set / what it will be called etc etc etc. Most of us desparately want it to be set in Vice City - including myself - and for it to be set in the same universe as GTA4, allowing the potential for a crossover or two. However, I can think of several reasons why we might just be dissapointed come the announcement day. Don't hurt me, please!

1) With GTA4, we were all surprised to learn we would be returning to Liberty City...or at least playing in a re-designed version of our old stomping ground. What made this easy for RockStar to do was simply the name 'Grand Theft Auto 4', as they had never released a main title whose name included 'Liberty City'. If you do not count 'Liberty City Stories' of course, as that was originally a PSP game I'm sure you all know. The last time we visited Liberty City (in a main game at least...and please don't count CJ's one mission trip in this lol!), the name of the title was GTA III. Therefore it was easy for RockStar to say "we are going back there and doing it all again." The very next game in the series was of course: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, meaning they have already released a game with 'Vice City' in the title. Assuming this is where they are taking us this next time, what exactly would RockStar call it? I can only think of 'GTA4: Vice City' which is pretty much the same name as before. Purely from a marketing point of view, this might be bad for business as no doubt the names of the two titles would be mixed up by anyone with less than half a brain. Unless they can think of a really snazzy alternate name for a game in which we return to Vice City, (and please feel free to offer up some suggestions in you replies) I simply just cannot see this happening I'm afraid.

2) Let's be honest, RockStar likes to keep us all on our toes don't they?! Like I said above we were all surprised to learn GTA4 was set in Liberty City once more, and that got most of us assuming they would take the same route as before and go: Liberty > Vice > San Andreas. That is exactly the reason why I think they will surprise us again by saying "yeah that's what we wanted you to think, well actually this next game is gunna be set in Angola!" or something like that. OK, maybe not Angola but you get my drift.

I have looked at the poster on the back of the 'Episodes from Liberty City' game-guide which shows a broken love heart and the slogan: It's Over, Liberty City! Next stop: and what looks to be a part of the poster ripped off to reveal what looks like a sunny skyline. This would again hint at a sunny location for the next game like: oh, I dunno...Vice City?! I might be sceptical but I think that's again there to throw us all off the scent and get us all to think the obvious. What do you guys think?

By the way let me just point out once again that I am one of the many fans who would LOVE another, bigger, better bash at a Vice City game. I wasn't dissing it as a potential location, I was just pointing out my opinion! Long Live GTA!!!

Vagas Baby! Have side missions that are like the movie The Hangover! Maybe that would be better served in the over the top Saints Row series.

I'd love to see Toyko too, but then it would be a lot like Yakuza games.

I'm really hoping for a new location. But from the early pics it looks like Vice City will be back.

Yeah.

If it isnt based in America, let it based in London. Football hooliganism, happy slapping, joy riding, drunken street brawling and dogging would be amazing.

I'd like to see them try Hong Kong (not on the list) or somewhere else in the east. Failing that I'd like them to go back to London or maybe do a european theme and have more than one city involved, Rome - Madrid - Monaco or something similar.

Guys,

I figured it out.

Where GTA MUST go next.....

San Andreas........

In the 80's

Dah-dah!!!!

It's so obvious when you think about it.

SA had the best environment with the variety and size. VC had by far the best music (I am a big hiphop fan, but am a 80's boy!) and best experience so mix the two. Have SA all gaudy and neon with stunning 80's music (Late 80's, say '89) and cheesy 80's values. It would rock!

Dear Rockstar,

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

You're going to have to do something pretty impressive to have me fall for that trick again.

^ What city is that in the picture?? I can't tell...

Oh, and I'd love to play as a Yakuza in Japan, though the actual Yakuza series pretty much has that covered...

I love the idea of a GTA taking place in Asia. I see you have Tokyo on your list. I love Tokyo, but we already got Yakuza 3 to help me with my Tokyo fix. I would love to see GTA taking place in Shanghai, Beijing or Hong Kong though. Or any other major city in Asia!

So I guess my vote goes to "Somewhere Else".

edit: Hell Russia would be pretty cool too! I really think the GTAs are starting to get pretty boring in the environments department. American cities don't have any landmarks or old cultural structures like they have in Asia and Europe. Outside the US, they at least have a lot of old cultural landmarks etc that would be nice to see in a game. You know, not only Skyscrapers and regular buildings. Spice it up a little =p

Not to say that they weren't great when used in the past, but I don't want to see Vice City, nor do I want San Andreas again. You can keep telling me that Rockstar will remodel the locations from scratch like they did with Liberty City for Grand Theft Auto IV and Episodes from Liberty City, but it's still the same American experience.

Sticking with the same cycle of locations is what's boring, despite how many different stories and characters you want to create. I want to see them go outside of America. It seems that people have forgotten about the London expansions for the first Grand Theft Auto title. I think that'd deserve its own full-retail title for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC more than Vice City or San Andreas, if not somewhere else entirely this time around.

I thought it was basically confirmed to be Vice city after that teaser promo for it was matched with some artwork in the PS2 Vice City.
Except the screenshot they used to match it was taken from the porn shop in GTA IV.

It would be out of this world to see our very own solar system become the playground for territorial gameplay.....
Martian colonies, aliens with bad attitudes etc....
Just sayin'

I loved GTA London, the music was brilliant and the 60's was an awesome time to pick. I think though it should remain in America and go to Las Vegas baby!
