SlipStream Effect - This is a very common effect, it can be used to a great advantage and decide weather you win or lose in certain cases. This is very Important in many of the Time trial events in GT aswell as missions.

When you slipstream, the amount of pressure and air flow on your car is reduced, allowing you to accelorate faster, thus overtake the leading car, and reduce the amount of time it takes to complete a lap.

Skip Barber strategy - This is a unique and very common strategy in Racing, not only used in F1, but WRC aswell as many other motorsports.

The basic principle to this strategy is

Drive in the straightest line possible.

This principle was developed and has succeeded till today, Learning it is not that simple, you must practise it and make it second nature!

The idea is to use the corners to the best of your cars ability.

Get the prologue, its worth it, now only $24.99 here!, thats about 12pounds lol!
With online, 12 tracks with reverse included, 72cars, i think its worth it.
i heard there will be over 900 cars, that is reeeediculous!
well, Gt4 had close to 750 cars! So it is possible to have 900, i doubt it though. I am guessing there will be close to 600 cars, and newer models will be added in updates or for FREE or purchase from the PSN store.

I think its much easier with the wheel, also more fun;)

EDIT: http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?p=3158804#post3158804

Great effort for this thread & deserving of +rep.:)

Now while we are on GT5/P, has anyone noticed the differences since the latest update?
You can now seriously rear-end the AI without being penalised and the tyres would appear to have more grip.
The point system has increased in some Event races from 700 to 725.

The worst thing though about the updates (and I have to say, it p*sses me off no end) is the fact that any car settings you had are completely reset. Yes you get a warning that saved data may be deleted, but I never assumed at any point that this would refer to car settings or menu settings.
All I can say is that if this happens in the full GT5 game, there will be many seriously p*ssed off fans.
Imaging having fine tuned so many cars to have the running just right only to have to start all over again.

I don't know about anyone else, but it normally takes me quite a bit of messing about to get mine feeling right for me.
The next time I think I will saved to USB stick & see if I can use them after an update. But it is a very annoying thing to happen.

Nice thread, just hope a lobby or invite system is setup to play wth who we want and not some random players.

You can now seriously rear-end the AI without being penalised....
This also rings true in online play, mnay a tiem I was deliberately rear ended to slow themselves down, I go transparent and passthrough any vehicles infront of me into the gravel trap, how stupid is that?

Thanks! And Yes, there are alot of changes PD did not mention, and alot!!Theres a whole thread on new things PD did not mention, from improved sounds, AI etc...

http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=157142

But yeh, there are a couple of things fans will be very pissed at if PD does not address in the full game like,

-Private matches
-Clean updates with no ERRORS!!
-Online ranking system (like cod4)

For the car settings being deletd i did provide a sheet and specify that lol, didnt see it probably, but I will add evrything needed in this thread!

http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=154729

I gave the profile sheet there;)

In this update, evrything goes to defualt, all my G25 setting were lost:???:

I've noticed a huge improvement in the flow of online races since the update, I couldn't put the online down the other day. I'm looking forward for future updates to incorporate private races and chat. I can wait for the damage update because the cars in the game look so good it'd be a shame to mess em up, I hope when they do incorporate damage that they include an option to turn it off.

It is difficult but, i think hes saying

this also rings true online play, many times i was deliberately rear ended to slow themselves down, I go into ghost mode and pass through the vehicles in front of me into the gravel trap (the sand banks to slow cars down) how stupid is that?

Thats what he's saying:)

Its not hard...just a couple of miss placed letters (typos).
Here you go.....

Most times, they are either trying to take the corners too aggressively & carrying in too much speed, making them hit you.
Other times they will deliberately try & speed down the inside, brake late and block your line creating the opportunity to overtake.
And every now & again, they feel rear ending you and suffering a penalty is worth the distance made up by the high speeds....poor gamers.
Others just miss the breaking points as they are concentrating so much in gaining on you.

It is silly that you get penalised when you are rear ended, although this was also the case offline and a point I have mentioned before. I believe that has been fixed now.
Becoming a ghost car is a way to ensure you don't purposely block other cars & cause more crashes when being penalised and I think a very good idea.

And I also agree that the online set-up needs some major work.
user created rooms are a must for GT5, with the ability to choose any & all tracks, set amount of race points allowed, tyre types allowed ( any or all), car types allowed ( any or all) etc etc.
Games like COD4 & GT5P with basically auto game finding is a serious pain in the @ssm and the sooner developers listen to us, the sooner people will enjoy playing their games online.

Alot of valid points, once the thread picks i am going to send the link to PD and sony.

I also have a few requests for a better online:

- A driver who has a constant collision record (etc over 10 an hour) should be banned for a period of time (either hours or days) in a certain event

- A ranking system should be made, Eg everyone starts of as a Rookie, and has to gain status through 1st, 2nd or 3rd places, and rank up to Race Driver, Gt Master, Gt veteran, and last and highest ranking (like 10th presitige) The Stig, since Gt now works with Top Gear why not!

- private matches, should me made and be completely customizable, from Music on/off, standard/proffesional driving, Tyres!

- World wide serevrs, so there is always someone online, and we can play people in EU or Asia.

- More events, more F2007 events aswell

- Theres more....:-D

A psn list is a good idea, i usually play Suzuka 600pp but the latest update has removed this option. As a result, I've been playing arcade mode just messing round with a few cars I wouldn't usually race as. Has anyone noticed they usually put one car in every race that dominates and leaves the rest of the pack behind. for example, my AMG was put up against a reasonable field and tuned Lotus Elise that was in a league of its own.

+rep for all the information and putting it in one place.

- A driver who has a constant collision record (etc over 10 an hour) should be banned for a period of time (either hours or days) in a certain event
This would prove to be unfair because accidents will happen. If one car makes a mistake & breaks the flow of the race causing another to collide with them, then the person who collided gets punished...this is the same issue we have with the penalty system. The best thing to have are 3-fold provided the online set-up is similar to the briefing room systems of R:FOM or Socom.
1) Voting system so members of the race can vote out people who disrupt the game through poor gamesmanship or abuse.
2) A host kick system which will provide the host the ability to automatically kick anyone who disrupts the game ( in case people do not vote or cannot speak the same language to understand the issue at hand).
3) A host ban list.
This is a system where the host of the user created room can create a permanent ban list that wil prevent anyone on that list from entering any rooms they are hosting. They also have the ability to automatically add someone on the ban list which will result in an automatically kicking that person from the room. Or when you kick someone you get the option to add them to your ban list.

The ban-list is relative to host, and if the host changes, then the ban list for that room changes according to the hosts list.
This should (IMO) be the options for any online game, be it racing , TPS or FPS.

- private matches, should me made and be completely customizable, from Music on/off, standard/proffesional driving, Tyres!
This should be the same as user created rooms. All options should be made availabe to the room creator.

- World wide serevrs, so there is always someone online, and we can play people in EU or Asia.
Possibly, but that will come with its own issues, mainly lag & communication issues.

How in the world does one get the 1:13.5 on the eiger circuit in ClassB using the EVO IX, I managed 1:13.8xx but the last 300ths OMG its so hard, could be because I am using the controller and not a wheel?
