Really looking forward to the world cup this year, don't think England will win it and to be honest I would be surprised if we make it out the group stage but I have to think Brazil are the favourites this year! I predict a Brazil vs Spain final with Brazil winning 2-1!

Here's who I think will make the last 16: Uruguay, Italy, Brazil, Croatia, France, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, Argentina, Spain, Germany, Belgium, South Korea, Colombia, Japan and Portugal.

Haha, I was torn with their inclusions! Probably the biggest omission's the Netherlands, and of course England. I think Chile will finish ahead of the former - what with their lightning quick pace and attack, it'll prove too much for a relatively unimpressive Dutch defense, plus they're lacking that real grit in midfield, too. England's plight's a little more difficult to quantify, what with Italy being relative tame in the run-up. They always turn it on in World Cups, though, and Uruguay will hopefully be a big surprise to some.

Yup, although - provided Suarez is fit - I think Uruguay and Italy will go on through. With the former topping the group.

Pretty good list, I too think the Netherlands will really struggle to get out of the group. Chile are excellent, a sort of Spain-lite but with more pace.

I do think England will go through though. They consistently make it through the group stages and do not think either of Uruguay or Italy are that good. I'd probably fancy Uruguay to drop out from those three.

Ivory Coast for Japan too, Ecuador for Switzerland (but very close).

Switzerland are an odd one, they absolutely stormed the initial stages of the qualifiers but really fell off at the tail end of it. If they can muster up some of that form I think they'll do quite well. Probably even give France a run for their money.

Ivory Coast/Japan is a fascinating dichotomy; you've for powerful, aerial threat of the former that will play havoc on Japan's defense, while the Blue Samurai's agile, quick intricate attacking trio will probably dismantle Ivory Coast's fairly dismal defense. It'll be the key match and I expect goals.

That group is going to be so close, especially with Falcao now out for Columbia.

Columbia- great in attack.
Greece- just defend all day.
Japan- lack any power but plenty of pace.
Ivory Coast- absolute monsters physically.

I think Bony is gonna have a great tournament, probably a decent shout for top goal scorer for Ivory Coast (best nickname at the tournament too, the Elephants!). 5 goals is usually enough to win it.

Lukaku's my outside shout, great physical presence and finishing ability, plus he'll have a lot of invention and control behind him. He's 33/1, too. Massive odds. You'll score the majority of your golden boot goals in the group and Belgium's is hardly anything to shout home about. Russia aren't what they used to be, Algeria aren't special and South Korea can be decent but they're still relatively tame.

I fancy England to do quite well. I definitely think we'll make it out of the group. Brazil or Spain to win, probably the former.

Ribery and Reus out. They join the likes of Falcao, Valdes, Thiago, Van der Vaart, Walcott, Strootman and Montolivo.

That's why for betting it's best to wait mere hours after the last friendlies are played - that way the odds aren't shortened too much as they usually would be, and you know who'll definitely be fit. :3

Complete with droll commentary from Mark Lawrenson: "Well she certainly looks excited" or full on sexism from Andy Grey and Richard Keys: "She would HAVE IT!"

can't get hyped for it personally. for my personal apathy, it's as much the fault of the media for overselling them as it is england simply not being sharp enough. they always fail to live up to the billing the press lay out for them.

I can't help but think it will be another england calamity like last time. if they do manage to scrape through, it will be into the toughest half of the draw where they will get dumped out post-haste.

then the same media that were building them up will proceed to tear them down.

rinse & repeat for the euro's

I'm hopeful for England. My back up team is Germany. It would be surprising and wonderful if England won the World Cup and I'm just a casual futbol fan, I don't watch league games.

That was a pretty good game to open the World Cup. Croatia started so well and deserved to go 1-0 up, Brazil looked like they were going to bottle it, think if it had stayed at 1-0 any longer the fans would have turned on them.

Pretty lucky goal from Neymar, but as long as it goes in it doesn't matter. The penalty was so soft, utter bs decision from the ref (Who was useless) and the keeper was so unlucky not to save it. Everybody is saying that the keeper shoulda done better for the 3rd, but i thought it was really well taken by Oscar. The shot was so subtle the keeper wasn't anticipating it hence he wasn't ready and it went in.

Really looking forward to seeing Netherlands vs Spain, hopefully we can get some revenge for 2010 but i doubt it.
