Well since no one responded to my post from yesterday, I just went ahead and jumped systems. I looked at my path to the center and was able to skip a couple systems and jump ahead. I ended up in a purple system with the same alien race as my first system so I can understand most of their language already.

I discovered that random grave site markers in space will load your ship up with inventory instantly but then you get attacked by enemies pretty quickly too. I've managed to upgrade my ships shields a few times and IIRC, I'm at 26 exosuit slots, 25 slots on my ship, and 24 slots on my multi-tool.

I ran into one small glitch when I was leaving a planet and approaching the nearby space station. Instead of the usual thing where your ship slows down to enter the space station, my ship went right through it and kept going. I had no control over my ship...couldn't stop, couldn't change to boost or pulse drive, just a never ending straight path at max normal speed. I ended up having to close out of the game and restart. Other than that, I still have the random issue of when I take off from a planet and suddenly get booted out into space.

Overall, still enjoying the game and curious to see what the center of the galaxy holds when I eventually make it there. Right now the journey and discovery is most of the fun.
Just fired up NMS for the first time in a few days (traveling...work...etc). Wow....the graphical improvements are very noticeable. Everything looks sharper and AA seems to be doing much better. Nice to see.
I wish the PC could get an option to fix the element draw in. They look like skinny twigs right now until you get close to them.

Oustide that, the PC's performance has come a long way. On my system, i seldom get those hitches i used to get, and its a locked 1080p60 unless doing the DF thing where you fly around at pace. Engine seems to struggle a bit with loading in all that data.

Since you have started travelling, stock your ship up with some of the rarer Metals as you go. Aluminium, Iridium, Chrysonite. These seem to be used in quite a lot of upgrades, so picking them up as you go will help you out if you get into a system with few of those elements about.

I'm trying to upgrade my Warp drive to whatever the +1 over the base version is. Need some Iridium, literally having to beg at every space port for some, there is none to be found in the system im currently in :snicker

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep that in mind. I just hit 36 slots on my exosuit which is basically all I did on 3 recent planet expeditions...searched for drop pods and nothing else. They seem harder to come by on certain planets.

I've warped 4 times so far, always skipping systems and going as far as it allows me. I think I'm at a point where I can take a break for a few days and then come back to NMS refreshed.

Finally... FINALLY, I came across an amazing colorful and well balanced planet. +3, -3 celcius day night cycle, no radiation or toxicity, lots of colorful flora, good fauna. Presence of almost anything rare regarding materials; aluminium, gold, iridium, chrysionite. Copper and Nickel are in asteroids in space. I will farm this planet outposts for a lot of hours for sure before going anywhere else.

The hell is that thing in the last screen shot? I suggest burning the entire planet to get rid of it :snicker

I recently found the exact opposite. A planet with absolutely fuck all

No Flora, no fauna, barely any outposts.... In my head, i envisioned it as a 'new' planet and went cave diving hoping i would stumble upon a tiny insect of some sort. No luck.

I also found a planet with lots of gravitino balls though;

Anyone know if i will need them to craft anything special? They fetch a pretty penny. Went back and filled up my suit and got over 1 million units for about 5 mins foraging. Drawback is they spawn Sentinel quadrupeds, i've seen the Bipedal ones walking about as well. Don't want those coming after me :/
Secondly, this extends to the wildlife too. If i am on a cold planet, why are animals walking around with bare skin? It would have been nice if the animal life were generated with a thought to the environment they live in. Go to a cold planet, see lots of fuzzy lifeforms. Go to a hot planet, see lots of bald lifeforms.
They must be cold blooded..

Those empty planets are like 80% of the game. That's why I am very happy with what I found after like 40 planets lol.

I found a similar planet (2 times in fact) with Vortex cube all over the place at 25000 units a piece. Made a good 2 millions sellings those back in about 1 hour. I had about 25 slots free just to farm these

And to answer your question:

The following products can be crafted using Gravitino Balls as an ingredient:

Advanced Cooling Theta x (Gravitino Ball x10 + Chrysonite x250 + Thamium9 x200)

The following products all use the identical formula for the Theta upgrade.

Aeration Membrane Theta - (Gravitino Ball x1 + Microdensity Fabric x2 + Electron Vapor x1)
Coolant Network Theta - (Gravitino Ball x1 + Microdensity Fabric x2 + Electron Vapor x1)
Radiation Deflector Theta - (Gravitino Ball x1 + Microdensity Fabric x2 + Electron Vapor x1)
Thermic Layer Theta - (Gravitino Ball x1 + Microdensity Fabric x2 + Electron Vapor x1)
Toxin Suppressor Theta - (Gravitino Ball x1 + Microdensity Fabric x2 + Electron Vapor x1)

So, I'm nowhere near the center of the galaxy, but I almost maxed out my suit and don't feel like going through the grinding necessary to get a maxed out ship. Besides, I have all 3 hyperdrive upgrades on my ship, with 3 of them linked (by that I mean 2 upgrades + the actual hyperdrive, not all 3 upgrades linked) so I don't want to have to go through the arduous process of upgrading my ship again just for some more slots. The same applies to my multitool. My scan is great, my beam is perfect (a bunch of upgrades all linked together + railshot adapter so no need for a boltcaster and a usable if not perfect plasma grenade) That means that the rest of the game is going to just be atlas, black hole, atlas stone, black hole, and I've got a LONG way to go. I noticed the last black hole sent me pretty far, so maybe they'll send me faster every time, but it really feels like it's going to get boring from here on. I've gone to a few systems that people have discovered, but they never seem to land on any planets (or, at least, they don't upload their discoveries because they're all labeled "undiscovered") I really want to follow someone's path to the center, but I can never find another system that someone visited within a reasonable distance / along the atlas or black hole paths.

I know it gets more intense the closer you get to the center, though. I'm just hoping I run into another lush planet. I found the perfect planet yesterday. Full of grass and venom sacs with plenty of places to sell. I made a lot of money and had a lot of fun fighting off the sentinels, but now it's back to business as usual. The only milestones I don't have yet are the starships destroyed and extreme worlds survived. I'm at level 8 on starships, but onlye 3 with extreme worlds and the last 5 that had red descriptions for weather or sentinels didn't raise my progress meter at all, so I'm not sure what happened.

It will be weird if I platinum the game before actually, you know, beating it. It will also be only my second platinum ever, and far easier than the first I got (which was minecraft) so I'm not sure if the trophy whores are going to be happy or angry.

I've put a ton of time into this game and STILL haven't come across even the Atlas Pass v1, let alone v2 and v3s. Still waiting on that "space anomaly" that's supposed to have it. :(

still loving this game and spending a few hours each day with it. just spent 5+ hours striping a planet of its gold and upgrading my ship to 31 slots to carry even more gold. ;)

on the two occassions ive got the pass, it has been after my second atlas path and i jump to the next atlas system marker to be told about the space anomaly and then receive the blueprint.

I found this planet today, it had these majestic creatures on it:

I really like this planet, it almost feels like it was hand crafted. The animals make sense, the flora is plentiful, and the geography is interesting.

I found one by accident (the space anomaly). I warped to a random blue star system (i think). It was just like the Atlas Station, except it had a Gek, and Robo Priest inside.

They're just like the bypass chips - You can build them in your inventory after you find the blueprint... Having said that, i haven't actually gotten to use one though. Found a lot of Atlas roadblocks while playing, but now that i have the key to get in the fuckers are rare as shit :snicker

Went to a new planet, had nothing noted down where usually it notes down "records". Any idea what's up with that? Does it mean there's no lifeforms to be found here?

Yep, some planets are literally balls of rock. Be careful though, generally, planets with rare items (see my gravitino balls on the other page) are also on barren planets. I recently found another planet with some sort of rare cube, that was also barren - The thing was hidden inside a Venus fly trap type plant.

I finally came across a planet filled with gravitino balls but it's a sentinel heavy planet so I get attacked each time.

I finally found the space anomalies for an Atlas Stone and the blueprint for Atlas Pass v1.

I just went through my first black hole.

I just upgraded my warp drive to reach further systems.

Yeah I'm certainly not in the crowd of folks trying to get a refund. We haven't even had the first DLC yet. I wouldn't be putting so much time into it if I thought it was bad. Plus I'll leave the game on with the menu up and take naps because it's all spacey/soothing for sleep. lol

I'm taking a break because it took over my life, actually, but I'll play it again later. Hopefully the newest update fixed the problem of my milestones not updating on extreme worlds. I was on a world that was extreme in Temperature AND Sentinals simultaneously, and lo and behold, my perseverence or whatever milestone didn't update even after over an hour on the planet.

my only problem with the game so far is that after mining an area and you move away, the item you've just spent a few minutes demolishing appears to still be there from a distance. move back towards it and it disappears. bit of a problem when you have groups of Emeril together and lose track of the ones you've done already.

Yeah...the draw distance is pretty horrible. I've noticed that myself. Seems like running a scan of the area will update the terrain that has been affected by mining. Give that a shot.

Well, I have been well and truly conned by this game! Bought myself an atlas stone for 2.2% under, for 2.7 million, because trade at the space station were buying at +102%,so I thought I was going to coin it in! Nope, was actually worth something like 80k!
Then I killed myself on purpose at the bottom of a deep ocean (because I needed to go out). When I booted back up I had lost all my shit, had no gear to get back to my grave in the ocean so had to spend 2hrs mining for stuff. Got it back eventually.

Booted up today and it's fucking gone!!? 2.7 Mil down the shitter! Ffffffffuuuuuuuuu hello games you bunch of c**ts :snicker

So, I'm trying to complete the defense of traders from pirates for the first time. I never did it because fighting 13+ ships was batcrap crazy, but I'm like "My ship is amazing, now, and I think I can do it.

So they keep flying close to the trader ships... It's impossible to get them in the open. So what happens? The trader ships fire on me, and they're much more powerful than the pirates... Like, insanely. *sigh* Well, I don't want to defend someone that will kill me if I accidentally miss a few times... Has anyone finished one of these missions?

I have. First time i defended them they did the exact same thing with me... like the hell man? I come save your ass and then you shoot me for it? o_O

So yeah, didn't attempt it for a while afterwards. Upgraded my photon beam (the laser beam from hell), and tried again. It seems to have a 'soft lock' feature, so there is less stray shots. It does mega damage though, so just upgrade the cooling for it, and you can take out a single ship with each passing, and be ready for the next one when you turn around.

Just got the platinum. That extreme suvival trophy is tricky; you need to stay 8 hours on an extreme planet without leaving. Just need to stay in a bulding and refill your life support every 2 hours (if upgraded). Did this friday while watching movies and such. I could have do it on multiples days with saves but since you cant depart off this annoying atmosphere with your ship, well no.

Im surprised they didnt set the bar higher for planet zoology. Since you have to warp at least 60 times for another trophy, they could have put 20 vs 10 planets animals required at least. And another trophy that would drive a lot the will of exploring would have been one to learn all the words of the 3 main languages since there is knowledge stones everywhere. At least that way if your planet is boring you still have a goal

One thing that annoys me in the slightest is the fact that the phase beam overheat way too fast even with coolant 2 and 3. I mean i dont know what should be an ideal duration but in a fight vs 6 it feels underwhelming. Since they give you back your grave if you die i'm letting it slide though

i usually fire a laser at them and then put my ship in reverse so when they come after me they are easy to hit as they tend to be in my sights. after a few laser shots and they are getting closer, i switch to cannon and fire away while topping up my shield when needed.

I hate that this is what thropies have come to represent. I wish gamerscore and trophy level could could be done away with.

Played this game launch week, got my platinum trophy in a week. Traded it in because i knew it was going to drop in value fast. That's about all i have to say about it because everything i can say about it has been beaten to death by now, but i'll go into it a bit more. Why not.

I was hyped for No Man's Sky for awhile. The game ended up being nothing like what was really shown in trailers and what Sean Murray was talking about. But it was still a great experience for the first few hours. For such a large game, it's really lacking any sort of depth. I hope if they do a sequel by some miracle they add in a storyline or something because just mining stuff, rinse and repeat doesn't really cut it.

Solid experience with a lot of potential, but priced wrong at $60. If it was released for $20 with less hype i think it would have been much better received. I'm interested in what they'll do with the DLC though, even though i got rid of the game. If anything cool comes together i'm sure i can find another copy for $10, lol.

Bumping this thread because i came across something quite interesting (and somewhat telling). Unfortunately, it's only something PC players will actually find useful, but it should still be relevant to NMS as a whole.

There is a mod author that has come across a file in NMS containing structural assets as seen in the gamestrailers, as per:

Trailer:

In-game:

The mod author was able to re-add these files back into the game. So now (if you play on PC), you can get procedurally generated buildings just as in the trailers.

Link to the mod for anyone who plays on PC:
https://nomansskymods.com/mods/perfectly-procedural-prop-buildings/

Kinda makes me curious as to what is, and isn't, actually in the retail copies of the game... and what the dev build looks like!

I still like it. It's like Cities: Skylines, except without the 'building' part.

I like landing on a new planet and going on a little adventure. Yeah, they generally look similar (this was probably done on purpose) but every now and then you find a really amazing looking planet, with some bizarre lifeforms.

Yeah me too , I'm about 60 hours in on the Witcher 3 over the last month. But before that I spent over 70 hours on no man's sky and I'll be back, I want to get to the center just for sake of completion. The game have its limits but hey don't forget this thing was done by a team of, in it's peak, 15 people... so !
