First details on the three new party members below:

The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has character introductions for the three new Persona 5 party members first shown in last week’s trailer, as well as bits of other information and an interview with director Katsura Hashino.

Get the information below.

Characters

Makoto Niishima (新島真) (voiced by Rina Sato)

A third-year high school student who attends the same Syujin High School as the protagonist. She is a student council president with a sharp mind and irreproachable conduct. She has a strong sense of responsibility and ability to take action, but is an overly serious and straight-laced honors student who refuses to compromise.

Her exclusive, starting Persona is “Joanna,” a motorbike.

According to director Kastura Hashino, Makoto comes into play following the first incident at Syujin High School, after which she keeps a close watch on the protagonist and friends. Her Persona Joanna is themed after Pope Joan, a woman said to have reigned as pope for a few years during Middle Age Europe.

Futaba Sakura (佐倉双葉) (voiced by Aoi Yuki)

A girl with superhuman computational abilities and ingenious programming capabilities. She is a first-year student in high school, but on top of lacking skill at communicating with her peers, she became a shut-in after a certain incident. After her middle school graduation, she no longer attends school. When she’s alone with the protaognist, she behaves normally, but when she’s around others, she seems to cover her head with something strange.

Her exclusive, starting Persona is Necronomicon.

According to director Katsura Hashino, while he can’t divulge details, Futaba changes a bit when she meets the protagonist, and the circumstances surrounding it are special. She becomes a key character in the game’s grand story. Her Persona Necromicon symbolizes her mysterious power.

Haru Okumura
(奥村春) (voiced by Haruka Tomatsu)

A third-year high school student who attends the same Syujin High School as the protagonist, and the daughter of the president of a major restaurant company. She is elegant and naive, but because she often watches people, she has good communication skills. She doesn’t find value in human relations, and there is a side to her that even avoids relationships with others.

Her exclusive, starting Persona is Milady.

According to director Katsura Hashino, because Haru is a company president’s daughter, you may get the feeling that the world she lives in is different from others’, but as your relationship with her deepens, she becomes more relocatable. The adults around Haru have warped her mind on a grand scale, and she is a key person who kicks the story into high gear. Her Persona Milady is themed after the Three Musketeers.

Velvet Room Characters

 • Igor (voiced by Masane Tsukayama)
 • Justine (voiced by Aki Toyosaki)
 • Caroline (voiced by Aki Toyosaki)
Prologue (Maybe?)

The protagonist gets caught by the police as a result of the injuries he inflicted on a man making advances on women, and is put on probation. After that, in order to oppose the ruin that awaits him, he becomes a phantom thief.

A suit-wearing woman named Sae Niijima is also shown, but her relation to Makoto (older sister? mother?) is unknown.

The government and police are monitoring the phantom thieves activity, as mysterious incidents where people go mad are frequently occurring in the streets.

System

Different World

The protagonist and his friends will infiltrate a world known as “Palace,” which represents the warped minds of adults, using a mysterious app on their phones called “Isekai Navi.” There, they’ll snatch away the adult’s hidden desire, called a “Treasure,” and reform their target.

Game Progression

Just like Persona 3 and Persona 4, Persona 5 seems to take place over the course of a year. There are part-time jobs to take on and trips to go on. Events include swimming, cultural festivals, social studies trips, field trips, and so on.

Director Katsura Hashino Interview Tidbits

 • The people who’ve played it have been pleased with it, but we won’t settle down until we complete the game.
 • The game is packed with picaresque Roman elements that the player experiences themselves.
 • Your connection as an ordinary high school student and an extraordinary Persona user will be closer than ever before.
 • Personas as outlaws reflect the characteristics of the Palace, but they also may evolve into completely different entities.
 • The Velvet Room, which has become like a prison, is one of the story’s great mysteries.
 • Caroline and Justine are childlike twins and jailers of the Velvet Room who impose correction on the protagonist in order for him to gain his freedom. They have an innocent and sharp attitude. There is also a reason that they’re twins.
 • The story will craftily develop in multiple structures, and the game world is being finished to fully immerse players.
Persona 5 is due out for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan on September 15 and in North America in 2016.

Thanks, Hachima Kikou.

I get a hunch out of the females so far Makoto is far my favourite. I really want to know who the brown haired male is on right hand side of the cover.

Added more info to the previous post, since the article was updated. Sounds a little bit like Inception with how they designed Palace to hold a person's Treasure that can be stolen.

Details for Makoto, Futaba and Haru:

Atlus has updated the Persona 5 official website with character pages for newly announced characters Makoto, Futaba, and Haru, offering official descriptions and artwork for the three and their starting Personas.

Get the information below.

Makoto Niijima (voiced by Rina Sato)

A third-year high school student who attends the same Syujin High School as the protagonist. She is a student council president with a sharp mind and irreproachable conduct. She is level and calm with a strong sense of responsibility and ability to take action, but is a natural-born honors student who is overly serious and refuses to compromise. However, she has her own troubles as well, which will eventually trigger the awakening of her Persona, and thereby cause an incident…

Joanna

Makoto Niijima’s starting Persona, Joanna. A unique Persona in the form of a large bike. The front of the bike looks similar to a woman’s head. It has the same name as “Pope Joan,” who legends say was the first female Pope during the Middle Ages.

Futaba Sakura (voiced by Aoi Yuki)

A girl with superhuman computational abilities and ingenious programming capabilities, but in addition to being naturally extremely bad at communication, she became a shut-in after a certain incident. She is the age of a first-year high school student, but no longer attends school following her middle school graduation. Through what opportunity will this shut-in girl meet with the protagonist and friends?

Necronomicon

Futaba Sakuraba’s starting Persona, Necronomicon. A Persona that bears the name of the grimoire engraved with a multitude of information and techniques. It has an appearance that would be broadly defined as an unidentified flying object, and seems to be a symbol of Futaba’s unknown power.

Haru Okumura (voiced by Haruka Tomatsu)

A third-year high school student who attends Syujin High School. The daughter of the president of a major restaurant company. She grew up in a wealthy family, and is elegant and naive, but on the other hand often observes others. Although usually good at communication thanks to her gentle appearance and people handling skills, she finds no value in human relations, perhaps as a result of the environment in which she was raised, and avoids close relationships with others. What kind of incident would trigger the awakening of her Persona ability?

Milady

Haru Okumura’s starting Persona, Milady. A lady Persona who wears a beautiful dress embroidered with lilies. But beneath her elegant skirt hides a powerful weapon. She has the same name as the woman who appears in the Three Musketeers.

Persona 5 is due out for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan on September 15, and in North America in 2016.

The above artwork is also available at the gallery.

Story details:

“If I protect the woman from the man harassing her, the man will get hurt and press charges.”

Whether it was for a small sense of justice, or possibly a different reason, the truth was distorted at the self-protection and convenience of rotten adults, and the protagonist began a “criminal record.” During his probation, the protagonist who lives in an old-looking cafe in the metropolitan area one day has a strange dream.

Dressed in a prison uniform, he is apprehended in a blue prison. On the other side of the prison bars are twin guards, and enshrined in the back, an old man with a strange face always hanging his head in thought. When the hero went to sleep, he called—or invited—him to the mysterious blue prison known as the “Velvet Room.” It is a place that lies between dream and reality, and spirit and substance. It is a room in which only someone bound by some sort of contract visits.

Although the Velvet Room accommodates the hero in the form of a prison, the old man says, “the state of this room is the state of the mind of the contractor himself,” and that the young man is a “captive of fate.”

Ruin awaits this one in the near future. And nothing can be done but “rehabilitate” against it. “Rehabilitation to freedom”… that is the only way to avoid ruin.

“…are you ready to take on a distorted world?”
Also, this:

The episodes of Persona 5 play out in an omnibus format. Each story is independent, and before long every incident will connect and tie together to the truth. What kind of ending awaits this story depends on the player.
I've already posted details for the new characters on the previous page.

Here are some new screenshots:

Deep Silver are publishing both physical and digital versions of Persona 5 in Europe:

Atlus, Deep Silver, and Sega of America are entering a collaboration to publish multiple Atlus and Sega-brand titles across all European and PAL Territories.

The publishing deal will cover a wide array of future titles for both physical and digital versions across PAL territories, including 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, and Persona 5.

Get quotes from each party below.

Dr. Klemens Kunadratitz, CEO of Koch Media and Deep Silver

“We are delighted to have signed this publishing partnership and look forward to using all our pan-European publishing network to maximize the potential of the Atlus and Sega games.”

Naoto Hiraoka, CEO of Atlus U.S.A.

“In entering this partnership with Deep Silver, I am truly delighted we will be able to release our titles in the European regions. Not only does the deal span multiple titles, but Deep Silver has a strong presence in European and PAL retailers. They have a strong passion for being able to deliver physical games to our fans in those territories, which we hold in high regard.”

I wonder why Atlus/Sega couldn't get Square Enix to publish Persona 5 in Europe like they did for the PS2 release of Persona 4? It took Deep Silver nearly eight months to publish Catherine in Europe.

Also, since Deep Silver will be attending Gamescom 2016, is it possible they will announce the Europe release date with a new trailer next month?

As well as the same collections as the NA release I was worried regarding Deep Silver publishing it with a big release gap but nope the same day as the US is some great news. Heard there's not much a chance for a JP voice track in Europe release from what i've heard but despite that the English voice cast for the Persona games is very good.

But if there's a chance that they do a JP voice track for both NA and EU i'd be a very happy customer because the JP voices of the game has a amazing cast such as Pikachus voice!

Persona 4 is probably the only fighting game that would like to try from ps3 games. Hmmm maybe with Guilty Gear too. But is still not my first priority. I found Persona a game with good gameplay and one of the most fast on genre. Lets hope in 5 to do even more upgrades.

More official gameplay videos:

Granted, they're short but I think I'm going to avoid watching them so that the experience will feel fresh when Persona 5 does release in February.

Survival Horror, you're thinking of Persona 4 Arena, which is a fighting game. Persona 5 is the successor to Persona 4 which are both role-playing games.

Persona 5 has online features too.

Phantom Thieves Alliance – Enjoy Persona 5 even more by using this network element. Whether or not you use this feature is up to you and has no effect on the story.

Battle – In battle, an ally can be taken hostage when they’re knocked out. If you refuse demands for an item and fail negotiations, your ally will no longer be able to battle. But by using the Phantom Thieves Alliance, you can receive help from other players.

Alertness Meter – If you’re detected while in the dungeon, your Alertness Meter will rise and security will become strict. In the worst case, you won’t be able to continue through the dungeon, but you can lower your Alertness Level by launching a surprise attack on the enemy. Although there are enemies that will run away in a pinch, which raises your Alertness Meter, this can be prevented through the Phantom Thieves Alliance.

Daily Parts (Pictured) – During your daily life as a high school student, you can interact with cooperation characters, take on part-time jobs, etc. When you’re not sure what to do, you can check what other players did on that day. There is also a survey feature that shows everyone’s answer percentage for questions answered during class.

So from the sounds of things the online features are sort of similiar to Persona 4 Golden.

Well Famitsu is kinda funny on the rating side of things its weird that the games that turn out very good get the scores that Persona 3 and 4 got. With the hype around the game in Japan I expected it to get close to the 40 mark. Like Metal Gear 4 got 40 score but liked some of the other MGS games more etc.

But the sales were the best in series with both a PS3/PS4 release was 337,767 with PS4 release sales topped the other games in sales by itself.
Nevertheless im looking forward to playing Persona 5.

Interesting the announcer of Smash is going to play the protagonist I was wondering who was going to play him. Good mix of some people who haven't had a huge amount of roles play some characters. Happy Erika is playing Anne I liked her as Kyoko on Danganronpa.

Yeah Chris it's not too far away only like 3 and a bit months to go.

I'm so hyped for this game. I'm actually not too upset that we have to wait until February now, because there are so many games this holiday season. I already pre-ordered the collector's edition. Luckily I don't think there's too much else coming out around the same time which means we should have a while to spend with this game and not have to worry about a ton of other releases.
