t doesn't make sense to me
Kinda hard to explain in text. But let's say, the upper part of the controller is the most comfortable part for the thumbs. In gaming, that's where your thumbs are going to be most of the time, left for the analog and right for the buttons. That's the reasoning behind asymmetrical and it's just perfect and more comfortable after a while.

Making them symmetrical will force you to have thumbs in different places of the controller most of the time.

Maybe we play different games or just prefer to hold the controller in different ways. Most of the games I play I use both the analog sticks most of the time and the face buttons a little bit less. I rest the tip of my thumbs on the analog sticks and move my right (or left) thumb between the analog stick and the face buttons when needed. And I hold my hands in the same position on both sides of the controller. That's how I prefer it.

BTW... I missed the 3070, so I will have to wait 30-45 days to put my hands on a 3080 as I had already sold my 2070 Super.

No Cyberpunk, Valhalla, COD for Aquanox this year. :poop:

I was informed this early batch of PS5 systems are having operating issues on some level? If that's the case, I hope it does get fixed soon. Would be pretty bad to have a new console having performance issues especially around holiday time.

Yes. That's a real concern. High number of reports everyday for what I'm seeing and the press is starting to talk about it.

You might hear some die hard fans saying it's between normal rates, but if it was and considering how much bad press Microsoft tends to have, we would be seeing at least the same amount of reports from XSXs dying but that's not the case, where reports seem to be quite isolated.

Although a recent update seems to have fixed a lot of software problems, PS5 is still in the eye of the storm and it's yet to be seen what's the extent of the HW issues are. It has been detected that some revisions have a problem with memory heat, which leads to artifacts and consoles being ultimately bricked.

After a while with Dualsense aside from the quality that is exceptional and better than DS4.My only complain is with how it sits in my hands.DS4 has a deeper? curve near the triggers that was more comfortable, while holding it.With DS5 the curve is less and it does feel a bit different to hold.

Do you feel the handling is less comfortable than even the OG Playstation controller that remained mainly unchanged for 3 generations?

Now i only have a DS3 controller. But i remember that DS4 was even more comfortable...My problem is,with the middle finger, its like it has some kind of "resistance" when i hold DS5 that its not there for DS3-4.The curve underneath the controller is less on DS5

The problem is this curve, its not curved enough....for my finger to sit comfortable, might be ok for others tho....

Oh that's a yike. I can see the curve difference between the two. Thanks for providing a side by side pic.

Not really!

The DualSense doesn't need that curve because it's shaped differently, say more horizontal. It's very comfortable. That's where your middle finger should lay so a curve there would just be redundant unless you have really small hands I guess.

Actually it is shaped a bit different, when you hold a DS3-4 your hands have a more natural imo wider angle, but on DS5 is narrower....For me its a step back in comfort but many steps above in functionality and quality. We will get used to it.

So, my PS5 has arrived... and the store had the awesome detail of sending me this merchandising and a letter with it, asking me to unbox it and tag them. Very, very nice I have to say.

I will keep it under the tree until xMas as my ex controller + charger was a gift and here's hoping to get some discounts in the week of the 24th.

I hope you enjoy it. I see that you got the digital version. Got merchandise and everything, does this mean that you'll be a PS Shill now? ;)

Thank you. Yup, digital version for me as I never put a disk on my PS4.

Hehe. My boy kinda is, so I gave him the PS5 cup (though he'll stay on PS4 for a while) I've played PS4 Pro quite a bit and God of War was definitely the best of it. Hated the controller, turbine sound and PSN sluggishness, but it looks like Sony has addressed at least two of them with PS5 (don't know about PSN) So yeah, if the experience is better I'll speak it up =)

Having better BC would've been an absolute killer IMO a I'm just gonna play TLOU2 and GOT.

Don't forgot that if that you have a large library your best bet is to but an external hard drive and enclosure, like these:

Drive
Enclosure

Hoping to get the PS5 on the 21st.

Yay ticket lotteries...

I went for the disc version. I wanna be able to play 4K blu-ray discs (I don't have a 4K player) and I've got Miles Morales (Ultimate Edition) on disc already, because it was cheaper than digital.

Yeah, If I was in the US I'd gone for the disk version as well to take advantage of cheap disk games which are usually cheaper sooner than the digital ones. Over here, physical games take a while before they're go cheap.

What I like about digital games though is that my son and I can play the same game at the same time in both consoles, 1 purchase. (say FIFA i.e.)

As for movies, I use my PC as a movie server (mostly 4K) and stream from my TV or console, but don't tell anyone 🤫

Well, here in Sweden digital is usually more expensive than disc for new games. Towards the end of the PS4 generation new digital games where $10-$15 more than the disc version (for the standard edition). When it comes to older titles it evens out and sometimes digital is cheaper in sales. I only got some physical games in the beginning of the PS4 generation, after that it was pretty much 100% digital. Digital is definitely more convenient, imo.

You can always create a US account and buy your games there. They will work on whatever account is configured on your PlayStation.

As for how to pay them, just buy Gift Cards on Amazon and redeem them on PSN Store.

A few first impressions from me so far. The console is big, but not as big as alot of youtubers made it out to be. The controller is way heavier than the DS4, I don't know if I think that's a good or bad thing yet. I first tested the controller in Astro's Playroom and it really showed off the potential of the controller. The biggest surprise was probably the triggers, that was a completely new experience for me. The vibrations is improved a lot from the DS4, it felt way more detailed and fine tuned.

The UI feels really fast and snappy compared to the PS4 UI. I really like the additions that come with it. Some of it is basically the same as the PS4, which makes it easy to get into, imo. The Playstation Store could use some fine tuning though. Don't get me wrong, it's fast and snappy, but it lacks some features that I miss from the PS4 store. Hopefully they'll add more features and organize it better as we go.

The problem I foresee with opening my box on xMas is that it might be nearly impossible to download the games due to the massive demand. It's a good thing it has Astro included.

Very happy so far with my PS5. Here's a brief summary of my experience.

• GUI is slick, fast and nice. Truly next gen.
• Love the controller. It's just a great piece of hardware with innovation features that do matter.
• Everything loads fast.
• Charge station is a MUST. Also, it looks very nice.
• Can play PS4 version of games so I can play multi with friends with PS4s. In parallel, can install the PS5 version. Very nice.
• For those new at PlayStation, PS Plus Collection is an awesome addition.
• The kids absolutely love Astro's Playroom.

This would be an absolute killer if Sony did upgrade their PS4 Hits (GOW, TLOU2 and many others) It's a pity they didn't. Also, FFVII Remake could've had a boost.

So far, no glitches or any other issues. Can't measure heat, but the console stays cold on tact (though I know plates don't have direct contact with the inside)

I still suspect the Digital version has a better airflow than the Disk version.

Battery life do fall short compared to those on the Xbox, similar to the DualShock (perhaps a bit better) this is why I absolutely recommend the charge stations (and an additional controller). Switching controllers with it is very easy... even pleasant. It also looks good .

So far so good. Well done Sony.

So, hardware wise, it looks like Sony is covered. I'm wondering if they will ever improve their customer policies. I haven't bought a single USD70 games (and probably never will) It just feels so wrong compared to Game Pass and most 3rd party prices. It's a good thing I have a decent back log to catch up with while those prices go down.

Currently playing FIFA 21 (mostly upgrading my Pro Player) and FFVII Remake.
Installed backlog: AC Valhalla, Uncharted 4, TLOU2, Ghost of Tsushima, Persona 5.

Edit: Some Pics.

Yeah, PS Plus Collection is quite nice, even for people like me who isn't new to playstation. There's a few games on there that I haven't played that I plan to play. I've downloaded God of War and Days Gone allready and there's a couple more that I would play if I had time to do it later on.

I'm really hoping that we get a PS5 upgrade to TLoU2. I don't wanna buy it at the moment because we don't know what the plans are for that game (patch or stand alone PS5 version).

I haven't run into any glitches or other issues so far either. The heat that comes out from the back of the console is just lukewarm when playing games like Spider-Man Remastered, Ghost of Tsushima and God of War. On top of that the console is really quiet, no more jet sound like the base PS4 and PS4 Pro when playing demanding games.

Battery life seems to be slightly better than the DS4.
