I finished The Medium today. I really liked this game. It's a mix of point and click adventure and non-action oriented horror. There's a lot of puzzle solving and the story is quite good, imo. I liked the split screen puzzle solving aspect, that's what makes this game a little bit unique. I just wish the puzzles were a little bit harder over all, with a few of them you had to scratch your head a little bit to solve, but most of them were quite easy. So, overall I really liked this game.

Now I'm going to start playing Immortals Fenyx Rising (Gold Edition, with three story dlc's and some other things included is on sale on PlayStation Store right now). I hope it's good, it looks promising, imo.

BF 2042!!! Woooo!

A buddy went hard on his pre-order which has mostly been gathering dust since no one else bothered. Since these things are dirt cheap a few us were kinda meh, and figured we could get in some laughs. I'm no FPS aficionado, but the shooting stuff part seems fine. The specialists are cringe, but i survived Cringe Raider so meh, kinda expected. What doesn't work tho... Map design.
My disgust at the map design is only equalled by my desire to beat the map designers with a smelly sock! These maps are genuine trash. This is what happens when you let artistes do their thing and not allow people who actually know what the hell they're doing see how they're coming along!

Same boat as last weekend. Going to try and play some Elden Ring this weekend. Might try starting a new campaign in Crusader Kings III as well.
I keep holding out for an Elden Ring ultrawide patch but so far no dice.

Played a little bit more 2042 last weekend.

Having the old maps in 2042 only serves to highlight how badly the current dice team screwed the pooch with the map design. With less than 256MB of RAM they actually created something people wanted to play in. Whereas now, with their comparatively infinite RAM, they pieced together the turds in 2042. The stadium is the only place half decent to have a fight in where you can actually do anything... and its freaking tiny, so becomes a cluster when everyone has the same idea.

As an aside; Had to look at our spam rules as they didn't seem to be cutting it. Had this fun game to play earlier, but at least the changes seem to be working:

Hopefully its all sorted. We seem to be getting spammed quite hard right now... nothing getting through anymore, cross fingers.

I've been playing Immortals Fenyx Rising for almost a week now and so far I'm enjoying the game, so that's what I'll be playing this weekend.
Been on my 'want to play' list for a while. Looks like Ass creed without all the ass creed bullshit lol
Looks fun tho!

Nice! I've been helping remove moderated spam whenever I see it. Hasn't been too bad.

And what are your thoughts on Battlefield 2042? Is it worth playing now? Have they fixed most of the issues?

Yeah, I've had it on my "to play" list for quite a while too.

I definitely don't think of Assassin's Creed when I play the game. Maybe some open world/sand box stuff are similar, but for the most part it doesn't feel like Assassin's Creed at all, imo. Which is a good thing, that it's different that is. The main thing you do is fight mythological creatues, solve puzzles and collect upgrade/crafting materials, and so far I think most of it is really fun. One thing that is really good is that you can choose if you want to have "everything" marked out on the map (by scanning and marking manually in game) or if you just wanna find everything by exploring (by skipping the whole scan and mark part).

I recognised the bot from a while ago. Back then it was hitting the bigger forums. The queue in the screenshot was just from two accounts. First two managed to get through, but made some changes and we seem to be holding on lol
Zero'd it and we're back up again today:

Mercifully, Xenforo has a nuke button lol

I'm so down for the mythological creatures lol. Odyssey was at it's best when it was walking that line - The minotaur, cyclops etc. So a game based around it sounds sweet!

Jedi Fallen order has been on my pile of shame for too damn long. So started that up. Kinda liking it. Not really feeling the combat though.

I find it odd that they have animation cancelling out of combat, but in combat you dont and have to agonise over a wrong input and watch yourself get ping ponged for a while between the two or three enemies around you.

Hopefully when Cal gets his mojo back this kinda starts to make sense.

Also, not a fan of the fact Cal uses different lightsabre types. Maybe it's a padawan thing where they decide what style they want going forward and he never progressed past that point for obvious reasons. So he's slap bang in the middle, but afaik, you typically mastered one type. I got the single and dual, and apparently he gets a dual-wield... so kinda strange.

I've finished the main game of Immortals Fenyx Rising now and I'm currently playing the "first" dlc (A New God). It seems like this dlc is mainly a series of challenges and it doesn't have a world to explore. So, so far that makes it feel like it's going to be less good than the main game. The main game on the other hand was a solid experience that I enjoyed. A little bit on the repetitive side and a few things I personally didn't like, such as timed jumping/traversal puzzles and so on, if I'm going to mention some things that I found negative about the game. But overall I enjoyed the main game.

Crusader Kings 3 & Teamfight Tactics Set 7 for me. My buddy and I played the other night and in four games already got up to Silver rank. Might try and fit some Destiny 2 into the weekend too.

I've finished A New God dlc for Immortals Fenyx Rising now. And my initial feelings about this dlc was right. It was just a series of challenges and that made it way more repetitive than the main game, so not as good as the main game, imo. I've started to play the second dlc (Myths of the Eastern Realm) now and that feels more promising. Just like the main game this is set in an open map that you can explore and do world activities in.

I've finished the second dlc of Immortals Fenyx Rising now, and it definitely was better than the first dlc, imo. It was more like the main game but in a smaller package. And a different setting (China instead of Greece I think), but pretty much the same as the main game otherwise. Now I'm playing the 3rd and last dlc (The Lost Gods). It's a bit different than the other content when it comes to camera view and how it plays. It's more like a Diablo clone, but not as deep with loot etc. At first I really didn't like the camera angle and that you can't look freely around you, except from spinning the camera. I've gotten used to it now, so it's not as bad as it felt in the beginning. So, that's what I'm playing this weekend.

Bought some new games off of the Steam Summer Sale. Picked up TMNT Shredder's Revenge, Cuphead, Old World and Anniversary Update for Skyrim.

Also.....

I finally bought a PS5!!! It arrives today. Got the Horizon Forbidden West bundle and the Galactic Purple controller. Finally can play all those PS5 games I bought during Black Friday last year and watch all my 4K UDH movie collections (LotR, Matrix, Bond films, etc). First games I'll be checking out are Spider-Man Miles Morales, AC: Valhalla, RE Village, Ghost of Tsushima and FFVII Remake Intergrade. And of course, Horizon Forbidden West...since it comes with the PS5.

Nice! Congrats on the PS5 (and managing to get one without having to buy from a scalper). I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed mine.

Honestly there hasn't been much exciting games so I got back into FFXIV the story and the lore is really good one of the best FF's if not close to being one of the best in the series. FFXIV combined the best of FFXI with older FF games with a little bit of modern FF there and there but not over the top which is good. It gives me hope for FFXVI. This will hold off until Xenoblade 3 at the end of next month.

Yesterday I finally finished the third and last dlc (The Lost Gods) of Immortals Fenyx Rising. It was ok. There were some things I didn't like about it (like the camera angle) and some things I did like (the overall setting and gameplay loop). The complete package (main game + dlc's) was enjoyable overall, nothing amazing, but good enough for me to wanna play through (and enjoy) all of it.

My next game is going to be Guardians of the Galaxy and that's what I'm going to play this weekend.

I had a look in when i was at the mall the other week here, and no PS5's in sight lol. The waiting list is still months long.

I've finished Guardians of the Galaxy now and overall it was a really enjoyable experience. I really liked the setting, the characters and the banter between them, the voice acting, the story, the visuals, the music choice and so on. But it was not without its flaws. The overall controls felt a bit too floaty for my taste, there was a lot of acceleration and deceleration that made the controls feel imprecise and sluggish (I don't think there was a way to adjust it). I got a little bit used to it after a while, but it's still a flaw, imo. The lock on feature kept jumping around sometimes after you had locked on to a target. And I wish that Star-Lord's weapon didn't feel like a peashooter during gameplay (especially since he one shots enemies in the cinematics), the team mates does way more damage than he does. But even with these flaws I really enjoyed playing the game overall.

Now I've started to play Observer: System Redux. I've pretty much just started it up, so I can't really say much about it yet.

Getting near the end of FFXIV:Heavensward it's a blast. I've come to completely prefer the lore of fantasy based FF's to modernized ones. The lore is combined of the lore of FFXI,FFXII and FF Tactics. Which makes me interested in FFXVI.

I've finished Observer: System Redux now. I really enjoyed it. In the beginning it didn't quite click with me, but just a little bit into the game it started getting better and better. I love the cyberpunk setting and the overall style of the game. The gameplay loop was enjoyable. I really like how the game got more and more trippy the further towards the end I got. I kind of like when a game (movie, book) makes you think and wonder what is going on and in this case, wonder what's real or not.

I haven't quite decided what to play next. I downloaded Crash Bandicoot 4 and tried it a little bit. Then I remembered that platformers (with a few exceptions) are not my favourite genre, simply because I suck at them. ;)

I just saw that I have Layers of Fear, another game from Bloober Team (The Medium, Observer: System Redux), in my Steam library. I don't even remember buying it, but it's definitely a game I'm interested in. So I might actually start that one up this weekend.

I finished Layers of Fear today. It was a nice little horror game, imo. Very atmospheric and quite trippy, almost in the same way as Observer. In some way it almost reminded me of the P.T. demo in the way the environment changed (almost) everytime you walked through a door. It was well executed and I enjoyed my playthrough. It's a bit on the short side, but I don't think I would have wanted this game to be much longer, the length felt just right for this game, imo.

Going to finish FFVII Remake Intergrade this weekend. Had to watch a few tutorials on how to beat Top Secret Projects as I couldn't even beat Bahamut.

I'd like to jump into Demon's Souls, Spider-Man Miles Morales or Ratchet & Clank this weekend too.
