I heard about this game and thought it looked interesting, mainly because the safe area decreases in size over time, forcing you to confront other players whether you're ready or not.

As you can see, it takes a while before you see any real action but I think that's part of the appeal. The visuals aren't half bad either given the size of the map and total number of players.

Currently, the game is in its early access phase on Steam for the next 5-6 months.
This seems pretty cool. Unfortunately from the look of their website (https://www.playbattlegrounds.com/main.pu) they have no plans to expand to consoles...yet.
Actually, it was announced a couple days ago that it will come to Xbox One / Xbox One X this year.

If you’re going to give a back story, can you give the important parts, and do so accurately..Battlegrounds works so well because he’s had, what, 3 previous cracks at it? He created Battle Royale for Arma 2 AND 3. And he didn’t just consult on H1Z1, King of the Hill is basically his game mode because SOE wanted him to integrate it. Also the game is not in the tradition of DayZ because it’s almost nothing like DayZ. It’s not a survival game. It’s a multiplayer/pvp shooter. Just on a larger scale. There are no AI enemies, no safehouses, etc
