Yes this is UK only. Great news, I didn't think the £50 price drop would have that much of an affect. All we need now is GT5 to be released pre-xmas for a one-two double wammy
Nice way to charge into Christmas.
Imo, PSP and PS3 are positioned very nicely this Christmas. Perhaps even better than any previous Christmas to date for both consoles.
how does 999% get to be 1000% lol did it sell an extra 1% while he was typing the article. 1000% is a nice round number tho.
Anyways good pick up on sales no shocker that it is increasing in sales, didn't expect it to go so high tho.

It did over 1000% but that is as high chart track can go.
Thats a pretty crazy number, I really hope they can keep thier sales at a high level, now that we have the slim and so many great games coming out during the next months and following year, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to keep tem high.

I thought you were joking but that's actually true. It was at least a 999% increase so it could be up at 2000% for all we know.
That's a good news, but I need figures. What's more, I'd like to see such sales continuing till the end of 2009 and far beyond it. Time will tell.
UK is a weak market for Sony ATM, compared to the rest of the PAL countries. If they pick up there, it's a good thing.
In the Arabic world (PAL region - SCEE), they know very little about the Xbox, and millions of houses have PS2. PS2 redefined the gaming concept in the Middle East. However, PS3 isn't that popular, because of two reasons. Firstly, it hasn't been hacked yet, and secondly it's still a bit expensive (around £315 after the recent price cut). I'm 100% sure that a successful hacking of PS3 and Blu-Ray will result in a huge sale boost of the PS3 in the Middle East. I'm against hacking in general, but if one can afford to buy the console, he can't unfortunately afford to buy the expensive discs. Ironically this hasn't helped Microsoft to open a new market for the Xbox 360 in the Middle East!
What about the UK? Back to my visits to the UK, I clearly recall how popular the PS2 was in London, Liverpool, etc...This isn't the case with PS3, is it? If so, then we can say that the US and the UK have been the main reason behind the big sales of the Xbox 360, I think.
I contributed to those figures! im now on my 4th ps3! sod biring GT5, bring on U2.
You are one unlucky bloke, really!
Just to add, im on my 4th ps3 cos...my launch one bored me, had no job and got £400 for it. then i got 40gig when the games started coming, then my missus sold that after i ******ed of to vegas, then i got another 40gig right away which i recently got stolen via ebay/pay pal, so then i brought myself a slim!!!

Then you're a guy who easily gets bored and a bit unlucky
Holy crap... Here's just to put the numbers into some context here.. (Not to start a flame war)
The competition there has been straight up selling well in this region, and the competition SKU was up 43% last week after the PC. This week the console was up another 29%, which is great. But the PS3 Slim outsold the 360 or Wii by 3-1 in just 4 days compared to 7 for the other companies after 2 weeks of big increases. That's after some pretty big competition increases that would have any company happy. As for the Wii, we don't know the numbers.
I have to admit that I was flat out wrong. I thought the PS3 would maybe increase by 50% or something max and level out to maybe 20%. Now I know these numbers won't keep up at this rate, but it really does look like the PS3 could be the best selling console by a fair amount these holidays. These comparisons are after what the competition did (Well, not Nintendo yet I suppose). Amazing.
Sony have actually reinvented themselves within a few months. Totally amazing potential turn around. Now where is Webshark to tell us roughly how many units each month these companies sell there to give these 3-1 numbers context.
