Right. That is unless you want to have your computer contribute :)

So when it comes out, just enter 54376 where it asks for team number and you're all set.
when we add that number will you be able to see us on the list or will you have to add us to it ?

As for those of you wondering if you could have more than one thing folding under the same username, I would assume that this is possible considering that under the individual stats page there is a spot for "active processors."
The real issue is that Windows Xp Home edition only supports a single processor while Pro supports 2. Because of this the app is only built to run on one. On a Mac or Linux edition then there is no problem at all because there is no licensing issue.

Yeah I know it burn but what are you to do? ... run it on Ps3 that's what. ;)

Isnt it something like 10,000 ps3's can do the same as 200,000 computers i recall reading that somewhere if thats the case with only 100 members doing it well get the same as 2000 pcs running it so imagine if we get more

also take into consideration your pc is probably in use a lot more then your ps3 depends on the use i guess but on average unless im really trying to beat a game or playing online i kind of ignore my ps3 for blocks at a time

So if I understand correctly, you CANNOT have your stats be tracked for both a Windows XP Home and your PS3 at the same time? Hence your suggestion is to disable it on my computer and run it only on the PS3?

Sorry, I guess I I just don't see how this would matter no matter how it was built for XP Home considering that the other processor is not in XP Home but on another machine. Isn't this an issue for their stats tracking site as opposed to the individual XP Home program? What I guess I'm trying to say is that isn't it the website that counts the active processors across more than one computer as opposed to the program?
i got a hpdv 5140us laptop

Im on a University T3 Line i believe so i get wicked fast internet, if that has anything to do with ur folding process.
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition
and i get roughly 32sec a frame, when i slow down the refresh draw to the lowest. What are your specs, and ur sec/frame?
Dell Dimension 4600 (all that's the same when I got it is basically the mobo as I've pretty much changed/added everything inside it).

2.8GHz Pentium 4
2.5 GB Kingston DDR SDRAM
250GB SATA HDD
2 DVD Combo Drives
1 DVD-16x dual layer writer
Audigy 2 Soundblaster sound card (with Sony 4.1 DD Surround on my computer)
Dual Monitors: Dell 22" LCD Widescreen Monitor and a Samsung 17" LCD monitor
Compro TV Tuner Card
nVidia GeForce 7600 GS
MS Optical Desktop Elite
Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit

Perhaps the best is coming: Verizon FiOS Internet and TV

Time: 32s/frame
when we add that number will you be able to see us on the list or will you have to add us to it ?
I add you to the list on the forums so that people here can see the others members. Adding the NUMBER to the PS3/computer will officially place you in the team, and will enable your stats to be tracked on the folding team website:
http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=54376

So basically, the purpose of signing up here on this thread is so that we can get an accurate count of how many people are actually on the team. In essence, you could join the team by entering the number and not telling us that you are joining. Your stats would be tracked, but your name would not be put down on this thread for others to know that you are participating in folding for the team.

Ah no what I meant is that the WinXP version of the app doesn't support machines with more than one processor. You can freely have as many machines crunching as you want and they will all go under the same name. For instance I have my Pc and my Mac going at the moment (The Mac is beating the PC by a factor of 2:1! ). Keep them running it's all good.

Yes the website tracks the CPU's I was just looking at this from a software angle and local hardware side, you are looking at the server side of the app.

Thanks so much for that - I'll keep my PC and my PS3 under my username and the PS3 Forums team simultaneously. (Although I'm sure that the stats will appear as if only the PS3 was on the account as it will surely blow away my PC :))

Your mac is flying then - The PS3 is only a few dozen times faster . Sorry, it's funny how something twice as fast as the current standard is still a lot slower than the PS3.

Actually it's not surprising at all in a way, I'm running the Darwin terminal version thus it doesn't have to maintain the 3D model of the protein or the graphics drivers to run it. This is all I get.
That's a really good video - nice find. BTW, do you want to be added to the team list?

It's probably going to be released with the 1.6 update, which will be by Friday, March 23. I'm guessing then that it will be available bout 12AM Friday. I guess it's a new kind of midnight launch perhaps (if it is indded midnight). :)

I wouldn't doubt that it would influence some people to get it as a dedicated folder. However, I don't know if you would notice any real difference in sales as there are only 200,000 active computers and the majority are not dedicated machines.
Ya sign me up I already have been running F@H on my PC AMD Athlon 64bit 4000+ I typed in the PS3 Forums ID # also :) Is it even out for the PS3 yet? Are we just in the recruiting stages/running on your PC?

Yep, we're just in the computer/recruiting stage. It will be out for the PS3 on the 22nd for US/Japan and the 23rd for Europe.

Considering the total bandwidth utilisation is roughly 30MB per month, I hardly think line speed is going to affect the folding process! I get around 29s/frame on my 3GHz P4 with 1GB RAM. I'm looking forward to hooking up the PS3 and seeing what it can do in comparison!

Just installed it on my PC as well:
Specs:
Pentium 4 prescott 3.2ghz
2 gigs of ram
7800gtx graphic card
do specs matter besides ram and cpu?

I'll be running it on PC until the firmware update arrives. Then I'll switch back and forth between the PS3 and PC :D

EDIT:

How do I find out how many fps I get on my PC running Folding?
Also, should I change the priority for Folding application in the task menu? because by default it is set to low...If I change it to normal will it work faster(better usage of cpu)?

I've got a Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 with 1GB of ram and it gets about 26 seconds average per frame on a single core. I'd have almost twice as much if it'd utilise SMP properly on windows, that is.

If you have an ATI GPU then you can boost your speed a couple of times, with a proper vlient that is.

Note: It takes a long time for your stats to start to be recorded on the website that is posted.... I started mine yesterday on the computer and have a 70 as my score... It's been running all day and night.. and I will continue to keep it running.

Once its rendered a few frames you should get a text heading on the left which reads "Frames Completed" and under that it will give you your average time per frame.
