PS3 and X360 side by side

Gamesradar has a size comparaison between x360 and ps3 (no its not a real ps3 just a nice looking wooden replica). Don't mind the sarcastic comments, it seems as though they favour the x360 big time.

We've got a PS3 - and here it is rubbing shoulders with Xbox 360 for the first time ever!

Created by Sony as an accurately proportioned replica, the PS3 model may be made entirely from wood, but it takes more than a cursory glance to realise that it's not the genuine article and gave us a good impression of what the Sony powerhouse will look like nestling next to our TV.

The unit is certainly big, although not drastically bigger than an Xbox 360. Positioned vertically side-by-side, the PS3 stands about an inch taller than its rival, while laying the two down horizontally shows that - at its highest point - PS3's convex curve makes PS3 about an inch fatter.

It's not the most beautiful looking beast, either. The underside is "stacked" with a couple of different sized layers and the overhanging midriff gives the unit a slightly awkward, uncomfortable look. But, hey, PS2 was never going to win any beauty contests either.

So, it's no stunner, but that's never been an issue with consoles in the past. Hopefully, when PS3 finally arrives in November we'll be so blown away with killer games that we won't be concerned with the machines curves, lines and overall aesthetic merit.

why is gameradar so biased against the ps3 design? In EVERY thumbnail they
are dissing the design in one form or another.

Great article. I thought that the PS3 was going to be massive but it's only a tiny big taller than the original PS2. I can deal with that.

It's big for a console but still smaller than your avaerage DVD player or stereo receiver so no big deal.

When you see it up close its very reflective and almost has that umm PSP like gloss to it if you guys understand what I mean. I like it standing up more seeing it laid down looked very fat. Standing up it seems bold and symbolic it like illustrates POWER!

A Maxima?? Oh and the new civics look pretty good, especially euro spec, better than a maxima. Maybe its more like Mercedes S500 (the new one) (xbox) and a new M5 (PS3) The m5 is a bit faster, more sleek looking while the mercedes is round and big

My first post using the firefox browser. It way cooler than the internet explorer. Back to the topic. I thought a developer was comparing both systems (xbox360 and PS3) side by side in performance. what a waste of my time to read this.

Its really annoying is little comments every time you click on a thumbnail!

They also left out the 360 power brick which is very misleading to people who dont know about it. Its half the size of the 360 and everyone just leaves it out... Then you open the box and you're like wtf is this?

I won't be sitting the PS3 horizontally.. it just looks ugly, but the PS3 looks very skyscraperish standing up... and it's beautiful.

I'm pretty sure that it's meant to stand up... 1up on 360! The wii... what the hellz?

Also, there were some incorrect comparisons of saying that the 360 is a honda Civic... it's not, the Wii is a Honda Civic. The 360 is a Maxima while the PS3 is a Ferrari.... Enzo....adsasfdsghdskfhdskghskdsnasf

P.S. I kind of found the comments on the thumbnails a little humorous... for some reason... it's like... they're just playing around with a wooden model... which is... random...

That wooden Playstation 3 looks pretty sexy! Way sexier than the Xbox 360. I like it's blackness, white would get dirty if you don't clean it. The only thing you would have to worry about on a black PS3 is fingerprints and smudges. and that PS3 is wooden?! Wow, sure did fool me. It's still sexy though. :lol:

Its the other way around...take it for example black cars are always the hardest to clean and mantain while white ones are the easiest.

Tell me about it! That happened to me lots of times! Also, the Playstation 3 ends the risk of smashing you disk tray on accident. Sometimes, I even got urges to smash it. :shock:

your lucky my controller is deteriorating as we speak and my second controller's R1 button is messed up.

So now i have a controller that doesn't react instantly when i press a button and the analogue switches itself off (frustrating for RPG's), and i have another controller with a messed up R1 button (not good for sports, DMC, or GoW or... any game for the matter except RPG's :lol: ).

and my PS2 is chugging away playing the heavy intensive games like SoTC, Resident Evil or... Pro Evo 5.

I ain't spending money on a new controller which will only last me 3 months...

I killed my Playstation 2 about a year ago. I haven't had one since then. But I did notice it's frailness.
