As you all know, Sony recently gave us some new pics from the ps3 in it's current state. Because they will start the final assembling soon, I don't think they can change the design anymore. In this thread i'd like to sum up the most important differences between the e3 06 model and the current one.

*note: i know that there is already a thread about the new shots, but i thought this was important enough to give it one of its own.

Picture 1 (left E3 06 - right current)

1. Looking at the ethernet ports, you can clearly see the current model has gained a led :).

2. It seems the vents have become wider and are less in number. The position is also a bit different here, it consists of two sets of vents, the e3 06 model only has one. Something else worth noting: the psu is, as it has always been, internal (ac in or alternate current in).

Picture 2 (top E3 06 - bottom current)

1. Just for fun i was counting the number of small vents next to the usb 2.0 ports. It seems as though the top model has 24 of these small vents, while the current has 23. Eight of these are covered in the back, as i highlighted in the pictures above.

2. The new model gained two extra led's, i don't know their exact purpose but I guess one of them is the on/off led. I'm not sure about the other, i guess it serves as a reset led? (when you reset your console, it lights up for a short while?). Feel free to post your input about this manner :-D.

Picture 3 (top E3 06 - bottom current):

1. If you watch closely (better download the hi res version of these shots in the other thread and zoom in) you can see that it looks more like a button and less touch sensitive. I'm still hoping for a touch sensitive button though.

2. The word 'reset' has dissapeared. The I/O logo looks more like a button (try zooming in with a hi def picture). The sony logo has a different color now compared to E3.

I'm sure there are more of these changes, but these seem to be the 'major' ones if you could call it like that. Hope you enjoyed it ;).

Nice work. Though like Zoibie said, they're render shots, so don't read too much into it.

Nice, I like the new PS3 look better, it looks much more kicka** even though it still looks ugly as sin lying down. The new model looks much more practical than the old E3 model.

Interesting post, but none of the differences makes any, er, difference to me (being renders and all that)!!...not least the LED on the ethernet port - whooopeee, it's at the back where I can't see it!

You know that also the logo could be rotated on the PS2 right? So its not surprising they did it also on the PS3.

I guess there renders though anyway so....(nice to see people passionate about the ps3 though rather than just fanboys:) )

Mich, you beat me :)
**Goes and checks the PS2** Holy sh** you can.... my god haha haha. this is a first.
Oh shoot, I just tried that too! How come we're finding out aboiut this right now? I just changed it on my cousins PS2 (which I currently have). Wow, that's so cool. How does Sony think up of these minor things that impresses me.

And great post, I'm sure that the real PS3 might look like the renders. Atleast I hope so. Because I want the two LED lights like that so I won't have to go up to my PS3 to look at it. I'd just be curious if it's on, on standby, or off.

If it's off, then I'd put it on standby. If it's on, then gotta check if my download finished. :D

Btw, can someone tell me how to include the image in my post - so it becomes visible?
The reflection of the coloured PS logo doesn't look right though? I shouldn't be grey - regardless of how difussed the surface below is?

Also the angles dont look right...

The latest pics of the PS3 are just renders apparently. So that might explain a few things...

Take a lot at my post again - this time I made a close up on the controller and the Ethernet port on the back of the console. It's photo - start believing ;-)
