You ain't going to believe this ****!

I just got a brand new PS3 cos my old one was making a huge amount of noise when playing discs!

Now, I get my new one, and not only does it make more noise but it has just stopped playing Blu Rays!

It still plays games and DVD's but wont play 300 or Casino Royale, the only ones I have!

Im going to feel stupid ringing Sony again, I wonder if they lied and gave me a reconditioned PS3? They said it was brand new and it looks it!

What the hell do I do now. Add to this the fact that PES 2008 doesn't play well on my TV and this makes me a very unhappy person!

I have to feel for you dude, not having much luck lately are you. But don't feel stupid about ringing Sony, if it were me i would rip into them no way would they be able to fob me off with a dodgy PS3. I did this before when they sent me about 2 broken PS2's after my first one broke down and i ended up getting about 2 free games out of them lol.

That sounds just crazy to me. How much of bad luck can you have?

You shouldn't be the one feeling ashamed about it though. Rather the opposite, I'd say.

Cheers guys, also my pad sticks, the left analogue! Wonder if they would replace that!
Check your settings.
What do you mean not playing? What shows on the screen?
It does the loading thing in the corner, and then just displays HDMI in the corner of the screen and stays black!
Also try it on a different TV.
lmao I just did that and it works on my own TV! But its worked on the Plasma before so I wonder what setting it is!

This still doesnt explain the noise its making when loading discs, Im telling ya, its hellish loud!

Nobody else have this problem, it carms down during playback.

I guess you've FW updated it? That disc sound was on old PS2 games via the emulation on the older FW versions. Maybe it's the same with your BD movies? (I have no BD movies).

Lol don't worry *Points at topic title* as long as it's working now :). But still phone up Sony if you think it's dodgy.

Could be a lot of different problems, faulty ps3, bad cables, bad connections or just crappy settings. Check them all before you call $ony!

For all of those interested, it was the BD 1080p 24Hz output setting!

I had it set to 'on' as my LCD has a 1080p processing chip in it (whatever the hell that means), I set it to automatic and now all is good!

Thanks for all the responses. Plus rep to all!

I still wish it was quiet, Ive had 2 now and they both make noises when loading games and blu rays, also at some points in games!

EDIT - Why does no one else have this problem, surely I cant be so unlucky as to have 2 PS3's which make noise, can I?

EDIT 2 - Ive just thought, perhaps that 1080p setting could be the problem Im having with PES 2008? Its a long shot but Ill give it a go!
