Here are the official specs from sony's ps3 website.
(I tried making the chart, it wouldn't work)

http://www.us.playstation.com/E3/Systems/PS3

The playstation 3 console is going to be rather heavy weighing at 11 lbs.

To Summarize like in previous posts.

THE 20GB VERSION WILL NOT COME WITH WI-FI/MEMORY CARD/HDMI

In comparison with the 360 here are the dimensions:

Playstation 3 - 325mm (W) x 98mm (H) x 274mm (D)
Xbox 360 - 309 mm (W) x 83 mm (H) x 258 mm (D)

So the ps3 will be slightly bigger and heavier than the 360 (3.5kb/7.7lb)

Funny thing is, the japanese market bitched and moaned about the size of the xbox/360. Now that the PS3 is the biggest one...they somehow won't care. It will no longer matter to them. It will make them look like hypocrites.

This doesnt just go for the japanese market, but for all those who talked trash about xbox/360 because of its size.

Oh how quickly things change.

Exactly where did the Japanese complain about the size of the 360? The 360 bombed in Japan because of quality issues. They read our forums and watch our news sites as well as their own review sites.

For crying out loud, a lot of Japanese are PC gamers!

I think that the size of the XBOX was mentioned, but only as part of a list of issues.

I seriously doubt that the size of the PS3 will be any real problem for Sony.

I wonder how heavy the PS3 would be without the standard Hard Drive, that was one of the things that made the Xbox feel like a brick.

Lets not forget that the PS3 has a curved edge design & because of this cosmetic design it measures slightly larger. XBOX360 on the other had is just a straight old rectangualr slab with smooth edges -like a disguised desktop PC.

Im sure the PS3's slightly bigger looks will be overshadowed by its lot more appealing visual aesthetics. Even when a non die hard potential console buyer looks at the two its quite obvious which one looks more like the hot must have gadget for the living room without taking price into cost.

IMHO

I thought that the Hard Drive was a laptop sized 2.5" size which would not weigh as much. It most likely is hte PSU weight as pointed out.

The PS3 could be 50 lbs. for all I care, it's just going to sit on my table. The only thing that matters is the length, width and height of the PS3. And the specs that the sheet offers is relatively decent.

Edit:

P.S. "Specifications are subject to change without notice."

Cosmetics aside, does anyone know what is meant by "NextGen" HDMI in the PS3 specs. Is it HDMI 1.3, which supports Dolby True HD and DTS-HD?
