Ubisoft games on the PS4 sold much better than on Xbox One. Sales on the PS4 made up 36 percent of Ubisoft's revenue, more than double the One's 17 percent. It's interesting to note that PS4 revenue also more than doubled sales on PC, which came in at 14 percent of total sales.

I don't know if these sales are reflected in other 3rd party publisher figures but it illustrates why PS4 is getting so much love from them. Pretty impressive really, especially that it beat out PC sales (arrrr me mateys!).

Ubisoft is a strong western dev so if XB1 is doing bad on the western front then I'd hate to see how the non-western developers are doing. Would explain why Japanese devs like Bandai, Capcom and Square are shifting to making PS4/PC games.

PS4 is the #1 selling console by almost 2x.
If their PC ports were a little better sales could shift over there, but to match PS4 level fidelity, you'd still need a decent rig.

So PS4 > Mobile > PC > Xbone?

more numbers here:

The French company shared the results of its fiscal first quarter today, and as part of that report, it broke down the sales of its games by platform. And it turns out that the PlayStation 4 generates significantly more revenue than the other consoles systems — that even (and especially) includes Microsoft’s Xbox One. In the last quarter alone, which was Ubisoft’s fiscal 2016 Q1 that represents the three months ending June 30, PlayStation 4 made up 27 percent of all Ubisoft sales. The Xbox One, however, only made up around 11 percent. Here’s the full breakdown for Ubisoft’s Q1 by platform:

 • PlayStation 4: 27 percent
 • PC: 23 percent
 • Other (mostly mobile): 14 percent
 • Xbox One: 11 percent
 • Xbox 360: 11 percent
 • PlayStation 3: 11 percent
 • Wii and Wii U: 3 percent
Clearly, the PS4 is the most important single platform for Ubisoft followed closely by PC. Xbox One is still only generating as much the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems.
If you’re wondering if this is an anomaly that has only happened in the last three months, it’s not. Here’s a look at the breakdown from Ubisoft’s last Q1 as well:

 • PlayStation 4: 36 percent
 • PC: 14 percent
 • Other (mostly mobile): 1 percent
 • Xbox One: 17 percent
 • Xbox 360: 14 percent
 • PlayStation 3: 17 percent
 • Wii and Wii U: 1 percent
This disparity between PS4 and Xbox One has a few explanations. First, the PlayStation 4 has an obvious worldwide lead in consoles sold over Microsoft’s system. Sony has confirmed that its newest system is already in around 20 million homes. The Xbox One is probably in around 12 million to 15 million. On top of that, Ubisoft is a European company with a lot of clout on that continent. And the PS4 is far more popular than any other gaming console among European nations.
Regardless of the why, this is something that Microsoft obviously wants to do something about. Over the last year, the company has acted aggressively to cut the Xbox One’s price to boost sales. While the PS4 still clearly has the lead, Microsoft is probably relieved that Sony’s software lead with publishers like Ubisoft isn’t larger.
Just goes to show you how much has swung in Sony's favor this generation!
Last gen was just a misstep really, Sony has been the dominating console maker since the OG PS1. PS3 was a cocky and arrogant slip that they still managed to recovery admirably from and PS4 is just the return of the natural order of things. I think this is owing to the fact that most of the current execs (House, Shu, Cerny, Hirai etc) have been working for PlayStation since the start and are all really cool people that are legitimately passionate about games.

A lot of their success is because Microsoft took a shit on gamers with their initial showing of the console. That made a lot of people flock to Sony's half the stadium. Sony was smart enough to capitalize on this and it's paid off very well through the early stage of the generation. With 2016's lineup coming up the PS4 will sail steady on its own.

This generation is turning out to be exactly like the PS2's generation. We're going on year two and no price drop despite Microsoft's console now being available at $250. If this generation doesn't scream Sony domination, I don't know what would qualify it as such.

I went to South Park Mall in Charlotte about two weeks ago and went inside the Microsoft store. I saw the XBox One going for $250. I wish I took a picture to prove the price at that store.

That's great and all, but it was probably on clearance or something. That's not how much it is normally.

Yeah. I still see it as indicative of the console's overall failure this generation. Serves Microsoft right imo. That's what they get for being arrogant pricks.

Damn, I wonder what's the figures are for the xbone? Clearly still not doing good outside of America. Xboxes are going to have maybe 3 games and be $299 during the holidays. Maybe even a gift card too.
I'm hoping for a bow-out. ;)
I can see MS coming out super strong next gen actually. They'll learn from this gen and release a stronger box thats built for gaming first and foremost. By then Windows 10 will be further developed and DX will play a more prominent role.

Just like Sony came out with the PS3 thinking they were Billy Big Balls and they got a bit Humbled by the 360.

I think every company needs to fail to turn around and be successful. This is Microsofts time to shine fail.

They won't bow out entirely, they look to have set their sights on steam now likely due to steam threatening them with getting people to switch to Linux. This might force their hand to become an app. That said if they see the money in it they could do both.

I'd rather the Xbox brand become an app. However, if I had my wish, Microsoft would bow-out entirely. Alas though, it's just wishful thinking on my part and wishing won't make it so. :(

Damn you, universe. ;)

No. I wish that I had taken a picture to show as proof. The idea didn't cross my mind until I made that post. I never said I actually took the picture. lol

I didn't bother with this thread because I thought it was actually correct but it's not so let straighten this all out.

The numbers quoted above are last years figures from 2014:
(You in a time warp ghost :) ? )

This years figures are below.

In terms of sales by platform, 27 percent of the company's revenue came from PS4 titles. PC is in second place with 23 percent, which is quite a leap from the 14 percent it made up at the same time last year. The PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One are all responsible for around 11 percent of revenue,
http://au.ign.com/articles/2015/07/10/ubisoft-sales-fall-ps4-its-most-popular-platform

Bear in mind in this 3 months, Ubisoft didn't actually release anything noteworthy, last year they sold Watch Dogs.
