Rashomon (Akira Kurozawa).

It was the first time watching this movie for me. This movie is included in the Samurai Masterpiece Collection (blu-ray), that I got during the sales at the end of 2021.

After watching it I had to check out what other people think about this movie, so I checked out the user reviews on IMDB. I was surprised to see how many people think this is a masterpiece (10/10). Personally I don't see it. To me this movie was at best slightly above average/mediocre (5/10), for what it is. I'm actually a bit disappointed, I was expecting something else, I think. The most disappointing part is that this is not really a samurai movie at all, it is more of a murder mystery drama, that happens to take place during that era. With that said, I don't think it's a bad movie, I just expected more from it and something different from what it is.

6/10

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness:

My wife and I went and saw the new Doctor Strange 2 movie over the weekend in IMAX 3D. It's the first 3D movie I've seen since COVID and since the entire movie is a CGI spectacle, I would highly recommend seeing it in 3D. Plus, you get to see the new Avatar: The Way of Water trailer in 3D. Which is pretty cool.

Overall, I thought the movie was good. Introduced a few new characters and the idea of the multiverse. You get a sneak peak at some potential future Marvel editions, which include Fantastic Four, X-men, etc. Scarlet Witch as the main antagonist was interesting too. To be honest, the new Doctor Strange wasn't what I was expecting, which wasn't a bad thing. The movie is kind of like a horror film, which is a breath of fresh air for the traditional Marvel superhero movie. You definitely notice the Sam Rami influence here.

Also, there are two end credit scences, but really only the first one is worth staying for. The second is kind of a joke.

I'd give the movie a 8/10.

I've recently watched the Bad Boys (trilogy) movies (with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence). The first one I've seen many times, but I don't think I've seen the other two before. I think I like the second movie the most, it might be because I've seen the first one so many times. The third movie is definitely the weakest out these three. Not a bad movie, just the least good one out of the three. All of them is solid action spectacles, imo.

There was going to be a 4th until Will Smith's slapping incident, but it has now been canceled.

Just saw Jurassic World Dominion. It was awful. I knew from reviews going in, not to expect much, but damn. Save your time and money. Plot, dialogue, acting, CGI, etc. movie was terrible. Couldn’t wait for it to be over.

3/10.

Even though my expectations weren't that high I still hoped it would be at least decent. It's sad to hear that it was that bad. I've seen every other Jurassic Park/World movie and I've enjoyed all of them more or less. Knowing myself I will probably get it and watch it later down the line anyway, just to have seen it, since I've seen everything else.

Sushi Girl.

With Mark Hamill, Tony Todd, Courtney Palm, Noah Hathaway, Sonny Chiba, Andy Mackenzie and James Duval in the "bigger" roles. Then there was a few familiar faces in some of the smaller roles, such as: Danny Trejo, Jeff Fahey and Michael Biehn.

This movie is kind of Tarantino-esque in its style, but clearly doesn't have the same budget as one of his movies (maybe his very early ones). The main cast did a pretty good job overall, especially Tony Todd, Mark Hamill and Courtney Palm, imo. The way they managed to make Mark Hamill's character so sleazy and disturbing was a big part of the entertainment value of this movie. I also liked the cinematography, it really felt like every shot was well planned and executed.

But otherwise this movie is not exactly the best out there (within its genre), but not the worst either though. It's a solid and entertaining movie (for what it is) that doesn't reach the higher tiers within its genre. Worth watching if you're into these kind of movies (Tarantino-esque), otherwise I would not recommend it.

For me it's worth something in line with a strong 6 or a weak 7 out of 10.

I went and saw Thor: Love & Thunder last Friday in Dolby AMC. It was a good follow up in the series, containing a lot of the same quarkiness and humor. Not as good as Ragnarok in my opinion, but still worth seeing on the big screen. I thought Cate Blanchett as Hela was a slightly better villian over Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher.

Watched Creed and Creed II last night on HBO MAX. Enjoyed both films and decided to check them out before going and seeing the third film in theaters. I like the tie-ins with the original Rocky franchise and I think Michael B Jordan does a great job carrying the movies.
