I just watched Zombieland: Double Tap. I really liked the first one (would probably give it a 8/10 or something like that) and the sequel didn't disappoint, imo. It wasn't quite as good as the first movie, but it still holds up as a sequel. The chemistry between the main characters is still there and the overall style of the movie is true to the first one. I think it might be worth a strong 7/10 or something like that, for me.

I watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood today and I think it's one of Quentin Tarantinos weakest movies so far. I'm not saying it's a bad movie, just that it's weak in terms of being a QT movie. As a movie in general it was good flick, but nothing special. So as a QT movie I would probably give it 5/10, but as a movie in general I think it's worth maybe 7/10, so overall I think it lands around 6/10 for me.

Mulan: Just watch the animated version again.

I recognize the format they used here, and many will as well. It's like when you have a massive assignment to work on, but you have sweet F' all enthusiasm for the material. So you look at the marking criteria and follow that point for point just making sure you address what is being looked for in the hopes you squeak past. The story is shit. It makes a movie, but its a shit movie. This thing is basically all payoff, without any work. Story progression can essentially be summed up as Dialogue -> with immediate Payoff. Rinse, and repeat. Screw all that build up nonsense. For example: In the animated version, the entire movie takes place under this idea that mulan is there to save her father. Bring honour to the family and what not. At the end, our payoff is Mulan rocking up with her spoils of war, and the dad is like "Nah, that shits superficial, you're the real treasure". The movie doesn't even try this shit. It start out like that, then mulan just sorts "Mulans" you get some moment to moment bullshit where problems are solved by nodding your head in agreement, then she heads home, and the dad is like "i know a warrior coz im one as well". Bitch, you never set this up!? There's no 300 style opening where Mulan is getting some whoop ass to get her in shape, at most i think she get shouted at... once.

There seems to be this overarching woman's power thing at play... but at the end she bows down to the emperor regardless so what was even the point? The story was sacrificed for this message, yet there is no commitment to the message they put forward. I don't even know. If that's the message then go ham. Write the thing so that Mulan is empowered or whatnot.

I honestly don't know how you screw this up so bad when there was the already solid animated version. If there is a play at empowering woman, the animated version did it better, so just watch that one again.

The acting is bad, the action scenes are worse, the set up is pathetic: 0/10 Avoid.

The Zombieland movies are great fun! Their little 'team' works on screen really well.

I just finished watching Birds of Prey. It's definitely not a masterpiece, I didn't expect it to be, but it's an entertaining ride. I've watched Suicide Squad too and Margot Robbie really does a good job of portraying Harley Quinn, imo. The cast is one of the best things about this movie (Margot Robbie, Rosie Perez, Ewan McGregor). I just wish it was a little bit more crazy and over the top, since it's mainly about Haley Quinn. If you don't like more progressive themes and movies that depict "strong women", this is probably not for you. This movie is really about girl power. Luckily I'm not a very conservative person at all. I enjoyed the ride for what it is and it's fun entertainment for the moment, imo. I would probably give it a strong 6/10 or something like that.

Terminal (with Margot Robbie, Simon Pegg and Mike Myers). The only thing I knew about this movie before watching it was what the trailer showed, so I didn't exactly know what to expect. It was a pleasant surprise actually, definitely above my expectations. I really like the cinematography and use of colours in this movie. A good cast, imo. I really like Simon Pegg and Mike Myers as actors and I'm beginning to like Margot Robbie more and more. I like the main characters in this movie and the story is quite good too, imo. I actually wish it was a bit longer and went deeper in some scenes, it felt a bit like it was only scratching the surface in some scenes. Overall I really enjoyed watching this movie. 8/10

Dead in Tombstone (with Danny Trejo, Anthony Michael Hall, Mickey Rourke and Dina Meyer). It was a fun and entertaining ride. As far as b-movies go, this one holds up, imo. It's not among the best in it's style, but it's an ok b-movie. The style of the movie and the especially the action reminds me of early Robert Rodriguez movies like Desperado and such. It's not as good as Desperado (for example), imo. But it's definitely worth watching if you like that style of movie (like I do). 6/10

Dead Again in Tombstone (with Danny Trejo, Jake Busey and Elysia Rotaru). As the title suggests, this is a continuation of the first movie (Dead in Tombstone). I would say these movies are pretty equal overall, when it comes to the entertainment value. We get to see a new bad guy (Jake Busey) and other new characters. Everything else is pretty much the same. It's not a carbon copy of the first movie, it just continues where the first one left off it feels like. 6/10

Anna (with Sasha Luss, Luke Evans, Cillian Murphy and Helen Mirren). I'm a quite big fan of Luc Bessons work (most of it). This movie is not one of his strongest ones. I liked it, but I think it lacks that typical Luc Besson touch a little bit. It's definitely not up there with his best movies, like The Fifth Element and Leon. The actions scenes are good, most of the characters are a little bit bland for a Luc Besson movie, the story is ok. In short, it's an ok Luc Besson movie. A strong 6/10

To be honest, The Fifth Element and Leon - and maybe Nikita, are Luc Besson's only good movies. Lol. After the major flop that was Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, I have kind of given up on him. He's still a decent film writer though, having worked on series like Taken and Transporter. He also wrote Lucy and is working on a sequel to Lucy.

Well, I guess I'm just more of a fan of his work than you are. I think most of his movies range from good to almost masterpiece level. I don't think Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets was that bad. It's not up there among his best titles, but I definitely enjoyed watching it. His best work was his earlier titles, imo. He has lost his touch a little bit over the years, but not to a degree that makes his movies bad, imo.

I think what hurt Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets was bad casting for the two star characters. Dane DeHaan & Cara Delevingne had zero chemistry.

Yeah, he probably should have gone with other actors for the main roles, better actors, because these two didn't quite cut it. But I still think the movie is enjoyable to watch overall, they didn't manage to drag down the whole movie for me.

Code 8 (Robbie Amell, Stephen Amell, Sung Kang). A decent sci-fi movie. I don't really have anything more to say about it. It didn't leave any lasting impressions on me. To me it was enjoyable to watch, for the moment, but didn't feel special in any way. A very middle-of-the-road movie, imo. a strong 5/10

Killers Anonymous (Gary Oldman, Tommy Flanigan, Jessica Alba). This was a disappointment. I thought it was going to be a decent movie at least. With that cast, what the trailer showed and the theme of the movie, it had potential to be much better. It feels like such a lost opportunity. I felt like I had wasted my time a little bit after watching this movie. 4/10

The Adjustment Bureau (Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Anthony Mackie). My first time watching this actually. It's a quite good and entertaining movie, but nothin out of the ordinary, imo. I like the theme and idea of this movie, and the actors did a good job portraying their characters. Maybe it was lacking a little bit on the depth department, I wouldn't have complained if they went a bit deeper in some areas. 7/10

Lawless (Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce). I really liked this one. It takes place during the prohibition time in the US and is about the Bondurant brothers of Franklin County. It's is based on the book "The Wettest County in the World" by Matt Bondurant. Overall the acting is good, apart from some over acting in some cases. I really liked the setting and the story. I think I could give this something as high as a strong 8/10

Le Mans '66 (Matt Damon, Christian Bale). This was actually really good, imo. This is a motor sports movie that people like me, who isn't a big car nerd, can enjoy. The acting was good overall, it was a well told story and the characters where interesting. Christian Bale steals the show a little bit with the portrayal of his character, imo. I really enjoyed it. 8/10

I enjoyed Lawless a lot. I enjoy films and TV series about the Prohibition era. Nearly finished with Boardwalk Empire on HBO. Great series.

Still need to see the Adjustment Bureau.

Yeah, I think I might enjoy this genre of movies and tv-series in general. I'm a big fan of mafia movies and tv series too. I've watched the first two seasons of Boardwalk Empire and I really like it. I have got them on blu-ray, so I'll probably get the rest of the seasons on blu-ray too.

The Great Wall (Matt Damon, Tian Jing, Willem Dafoe, Andy Lau, Pedro Pascal). I actually didn't know this was going to be a fantasy movie before watching it, I thought this was going to be more of a historical movie with a little twist. I'm glad that this was more of a fantasy movie, that made me enjoy it a little bit more I think. The director of this movie, Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Curse of the Golden Flower), is one of my favourite directors, but this is not one of his best. It's a enjoyable and entertaining movie, but doesn't reach the level of his best movies, imo. 7/10

I'm finally finished with the Die Hard (blu-ray) box. The first three movies doesn't really need to be mentioned much since I've seen them several times. They are modern classics when it comes to action movies. It was the first time I watched the other two movies though.

Die Hard: (4.0) Live Free or Die Hard (Bruce Willis, Timothy Olyphant, Justin Long, Maggie Q, Mary Elizabeth Winstead). This one was ok actually. I didn't expect it to be this good. It didn't quite reach the level of the first three movies, but it was definitely entertaining. I like the whole dinosaur (John McClane) meets modern world (computer terrorism) theme. Justin Long's character works quite well as a comic relief. And I quite liked McClane's daughter (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead). I would rather have seen her in the fifth movie than the actor that played his son in that one. Overall I would say this is a strong 6/10.

A Good Day to Die Hard (Bruce Willis, Jai Courtney, Sebastian Koch, Yulia Snigir, Radivoje Bukvic). This was definitely the weakest of them all, for me. In a best case scenario it's servicable as an action movie in general, but as a Die Hard movie this was very disappointing. I really didn't feel the whole father and son thing they where going for here. It might have to do with the actor that played Jack McClane, he really didn't work for me. As I said above here, I would rather have seen another movie with John McClane's daughter. The rest of the cast (outside of Bruce Willis of course) was really bland and boring. I guess the technical aspect of the movie was quite good, but that's not enough, imo. This is only a 4/10 for me.

If I would rank the movies from best to worst it would be in this order:

Die Hard.
Die Hard: With a Vengeance.
Die Hard 2.
Die Hard: (4.0) Live Free or Die Hard.
>>>
A Good Day to Die Hard.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver). I actually really liked this one. It's definitely the best SW movie outside of the original trilogy, imo. This whole sequel trilogy is better than the prequel trilogy, but that doesn't really say much, since the prequel trilogy was overall sub par, imo. I think they ended the sequel trilogy in a really good way with this movie. I even got a little bit of Return of the Jedi vibe towards the end. It's probably worth a strong 7/10 or a weak 8/10 or something like that for me.

Suicide squad.
Bad movie. I couldn't even bring myself to get to the end it bored me that much.

Rogue one
This surprised me thought was very good and finally ties up how they figure out how to destroy the death star thing

Absolutely Anything (Simon Pegg, Kate Beckinsale, Robin Williams, John Cleese). A fun comedy in the same style as Bruce Almighty, almost. It's definitely not one of the best Simon Pegg movies I've seen, but it's ok. It had its moments. It has a pretty impressive cast even though it's not a really high budget movie. Simon Pegg and Kate Beckinsale in the main roles, Robin Williams as the voice of the dog Dennis, the Monty Python gang voicing the aliens. I was hoping this would be a bit better than this, especially when you look at the cast, but it didn't quite match my expectations. It's ok, not much more. A strong 5/10 maybe.

Borat subsequent movie film 6/10

Due to the giuliani incident being plastered all over the news sites and social media along with other key parts including amazon's own trailers of the movie meant I had already seen most of the best bits so was largely unaffected and didn't find much of it hilarious.
Perhaps had I gone in completely blind without watching trailers i might feel different

I will agree to that saw it a couple nights ago on prime video and whilst it had a few laughable moments it was far from hilarious.
Emma Pierson is still cute.

Glass (James McAvoy, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Paulson). This was a quite interesting take on superheroes, imo. I liked this one. James McAvoy really manage to be really creepy in his role, with the plit personalities, he does a really good job, imo. I didn't know that there was two more movies that is part of this story (Unbreakable and Split). I think I'll have to get and watch those movies. A 7/10 (or something like that) for me.

I had seen unbreakable long time ago but didn't realise split was part of the same story until this released so I had to then watch that. I know I have now seen it, but i can't remember what happens in it off the top of my head.

Knock Knock (Keanu Reeves, Lorenza Izzo, Ana de Armas, Ignacia Allamand). I really don't know how I feel about this movie. The movie is directed by Eli Roth (Hostel), which I'm not a big fan of. Keanu (which I like) does one of the more dramatic roles I've seen him in. The acting overall is ok and the theme of the movie feels like it should work. But I feel like it's the execution that's not quite there, probably thanks to Eli Roth as a director. I didn't really have any expectations on this movie and it delivers a very middle of the road experience overall, imo. 5/10

Cold Blood Legacy (Jean Reno, Sarah Lind, Joe Anderson, David Gyasi). If it wasn't for Jean Reno I probably never would've watched this movie, it wouldn't have been on my radar at all. Unfortunately not even Jean Reno (and Sarah Lind) can save this from being a quite underwhelming experience. It feels poorly written, most of the characters felt really bland and the execution felt uninspired. 4/10
