Tore through Loki over the weekend.

Will hold your attention well enough. I hate time travel, and this show is all about time travel, so kinda hard one for me to watch personally.

At times it also walked the line between an actual strong female lead, and Charlies Angels. But Lady Loki, like her male counterpart is just as flawed, and the show acknowledges this fact and keeps it in mind. So you don't have some bland generic Mary sue, but an actual character!
I don't know about the Loki on Loki thing tho. I have an ego... but, yeah... i don't think i'd wanna bang female me... but then i've never met female me so who knows???
Characters are good. Story is fine, end is a bit of a let down.

Solid 7/10.

-1 if i was gunna be cynical because the best loki died to no fanfare... i mean, my dude went ham. Sing him a song or something!

Look at this majestic motherfucker crank the dial to 11!! I felt the intensity yo!

Started watching Dexter last night. I know I'm late to the party, but finally decided to watch it. About three episodes into the first season. It's okay so far. My wife is really into though.

Started watching Demon Slayer with my wife on Netflix. I love anime, but my wife dislikes it so I haven't been able to catch up on my anime shows/movies in a while. Surprisingly though, she has taken a liking to Demon Slayer.

Also, my wife and I started watching My Wife & Kids on Hulu. It was a great sitcom show from the early / mid 2000's. Hilarious and wholesome family sitcom. It's got Damon Wayans in it.

Binged The Witcher last weekend - 7/10

No standout moments like the first season. They deviated even more from the source material again by having more 'main' characters die that didn't in the books (at least as far as i know). So not liking that they're pruning good back story and world building potential for no real reason.
Like, why does eskel need to die? He's basically just the less famous geralt. Perfect character to have in the background to support the main character. For example: Geralt dumps Ciri at Kaer Morhen. Would have been a great way to have geralt 'train' Ciri by proxy whilst they sent him off places for story reasons

My biggest gripe would be it feels a little "Vampire diaries" at times, and the prior point about people just dying off kinda reinforces that idea. Hopefully that isn't the trend they want to follow, coz i've watched (suffered) vampire diaries and i don't know how people comprehend the plot at times.

But that aside, still pretty good.

On the final episode of The Witcher season 2. Enjoying this season a lot more than the first. The first season jumped around in time a lot and it was hard to follow. I have a feeling the season will end on some big cliff hanger, so going to have to wait a whole year to see what happens.

It's great. It ends great. And I'm looking foward to see the next season.

I've been watching Star Trek - The Original Series (season 1-3) the last few weeks. I only remember watching a few of the episodes before, so most of it (felt like it) was new to me. Overall I quite enjoyed the series. It was fun to see all the classic characters again.

My wife and I are almost done with the Midnight Asia series on Netflix. Each episode highlights different asian cities like Tokyo, Mumbai, Seoul, Bangkok, etc and spotlights the food and nightlife of each city. I've found it pretty interesting and makes me want to travel to these places someday.

Wheel of Time - Season 1
Other than the unnecessary and annoying woke crap, it was actually quite entertaining. The special effects were cheesy at times, but still awesome.
7.5/10
At the beginning of the show when the village is violently attacked by Ogiers and Moiraine utterly decimates them with her magic is one of my favorite scenes of the show.

The Witcher - Season 2
This was better than Season 1 in every way. The first season was so incoherent and jumped around so much with timelines and flashbacks that I didn't actually realize what was happening until the show ended ... and then it all made sense. Season 2 was a lot of fun. The girl playing Ciri really upped her acting by about 10 levels this season, so that really helped the show be more immersive this time around. Everyone in general did a really good job.
9/10
Although the scene with Fringilla killing everyone as she has them all paralyzed was deeply disturbing, especially when she slowly gouged out that dude's eyeball. Gave me some serious Game of Thrones flashbacks.

Yeah, I watch quite a lot of that kind of stuff (travel & food YouTubers) on YouTube and it makes me wanna travel to a lot of different countries to experience their food, culture and things that are worth seeing.

Yeah, they slap you in the face with it. It's actually pretty good if you have the fast forward button nearby. 😅 But I don't blame you. From what I've read online, 99% of the woke crap is not in the books. So ... that's just Hollywood crapping on things for no reason.

Been watching the book of boba.

It's a real slow burn atm. Watched the first 4 episodes so far.

I think the internet has spoiled a couple of the reveals for me already, but meh, i'll take them as they come lol.

The Strain (the complete series).

I had already read the books (by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan) that the series is based on before watching the tv-series. I had also seen the first season (when it was first aired on tv) once before.

The first episode is basically a carbon copy of the start of the first book, but after that it starts to become more and more of its own beast. It still follows the same theme, has most of the same main characters, the overall story arc is pretty much the same and some of the things that happens in the books also happens in the series. But there's quite a lot of differences. Some people (who have read the books) might not like it, but I think it's a good thing that the two are different.

You can definitely see that this is a Guillermo del Toro production, everything from the design of the vampires to the cinematography hints at that. And both Guillermo and Chuck was part of the production of the series, Guillermo even directed two episodes. I really like the design of the vampires, they look like they are inspired by the vampires in Blade 2 (which Guillermo directed), and I personally think that is more fun and interesting than the classic vampire.

The series has good production value, the overall acting is good, the characters are interesting and the plot "sucks" you in, if you like this style of entertainment, imo. I really liked this series.

Just finished two new TV Series...

Moon Knight - While I enjoy Oscar Isaac in most films / TV shows, I really didn't care much for Moon Knight. It was hard to follow and know what's going on. I also don't know how it's going to fit into the MCU, with the introduction of Egyptian gods. The season finale also had me scratching my head. It doesn't really explain how he turned the final fight around, as he just blacks out and then suddenly he's the victor. I didn't enjoy this series as much as I liked Loki and WandaVision.

Ozark - Just wrapped up the final season last night. Excellent show and sad ending for some. While I know it's supposed to be the final season, curious if they'll do any offshoots years down the road. If you haven't watched Ozark on Netflix, I highly recommend it.

Been watching kenobi!

First episode: 9/10. I'm a bit of a star wars nerd, so was feeling it.

After that though, for each successive episode you can basically start deducting the episode number from my score for ep.1.

Not too sure why, but it seems like they're rushing things, and adding a lot of useless fluff, and forgetting to actually connect plot points. Filler can be useful for filling out the world, but here its just fluff. For example... who the fuck is wade!? This is from the latest episode (4) where some nut job hovers (hovers!) his t-47 in literal throwing distance from a lightsaber and, surprise, dies!.. why!? So we can waste time on a mourning scene where the characters act all depressed, or something, i dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But yeah, wade gets dead and no one's gunna give a shit, and we have to suffer through the actors also trying to give a damn about the death of a random background npc (i honestly have no idea who the hell Wade is...).

Logic it seems, has started to fall apart in the show. Ep.3, where we get Vadar and Kenobi reuniting, has all the fanfare of a wet fart... what the hell was the end goal here? I would assume Vadar would raze the whole town in anger, maybe flatline an inquisitor or two.. but no. He just lights a fire and holds kenobi over it for a little... okay ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There's also the backwards ass logic where inquisitor three somehow gets to the end of (presumably) a one way tunnel ahead of child leia after entering it god knows how long after... okay ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On leia and inquisitor 3; Child actors are always kinda meh (unless you're Natalie portman), and leia's actress isn't an exception sadly. Show also kinda bumbles her a bit, but more the showrunners fault there.

Same for inquisitor 3. Character is supposed to be no nonsense loose cannon bad guy. But plays more like a caricature of "generic" bad guy #43532. Like they knew the character was bad, but neither the actress, nor the director have any idea what a "bad" guy is and just kinda wing it. So you have two nice people's interpretation of a bad guy... and it's not too hot. In the latest episode for example, she has leia in a cell... and she talks to her. If you want to make the audience feel any kinda way about this bad character being bad, here's your perfect opportunity. Instead we get nothing. Just wasted screen time where the actress mimes her bad character, and delivers mediocre writing...

Writing is getting progressively worse. So outlook for the rest of the show at this point seems a little bleak. Which is sad. After mando i thought they were onto something...

Started watching The Terminal List on Amazon Prime. It's pretty good. Only on episode four, but enjoying it so far. Keeps you on your toes and guessing what happens next. Chris Pratt plays a US Navy Seal bent on revenge. Supporting cast includes Constance Wu and Taylor Kitsch. The show has a 95% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but critics hated it. Don't listen to the critics. It's worth checking out.
