Fat 60 GB PS3 kicked the bucket :(

It looks like the YLOD... System fires up for a couple seconds... beeps a couple times... yellow light flashes once... and then the system shuts down and the light flashes red.

Was able to get my red box blu-ray out using the hair dryer temporary fix. Played about 5 minutes of Madden before the system shut down again.

Has anyone had any luck selling and YLOD PS3? Looking online it seems some people have been able to fix the system using a heat gun. But I think I am looking to upgrade to the PS4... and maybe buy a PS3 when the price its about $150-$100...maybe a new slim model is in the works
wow wtf were you doing with your PS3 that it died so soon?
so soon?

I think 8 years is pretty darn good.

I did replace the thermal paste about 4 years ago because the fan was running on high a lot...

I am thinking about trying the oven reflow fix

you get trolled easily. i was jk. be careful though, the thermal paste that the PS3 needed was different from the ones i put in my PC. that is why my PS3 went dead i think. it did do well after i repasted it but realized later it was supposed to be some other sort of paste.

Sorry to hear about that, bud. Always sucks when something that's lasted that long takes a dump. I know that feel. :(

My day 1 PS3 died last year. I ended up getting the 12gb slim and buying a cheap drive to upgrade. Perfect.

But, if you don't have a ps4 then come join the party. :)

Good News.

The Oven Reflow fix seems to have at least temporarily solved the problem.
PS3 turns on and seems functional. (at least for the 5 minutes I had it on... haven't drive the blu ray plater yet... got scared)
