Honestly, I don't see how LittleBigPlanet got game of the year (for the PS3). I'd have to put Metal Gear Solid 4 as my game of the year.

I just finished that game, after I stopped playing it for a month, lol.

So what's your guys' take on this? Did LittleBigPlanet deserve to be number 1? Or did you think Metal Gear Solid 4 should have been on top.

In my opionon, it really did. It appeals to everyone of any age, and the storyline is fun to play. Not only, you have a crap load of online levels to play once you beat the game. It even provides challenges you face in the game. And the DLC is pretty good.

But yeah, it deserved it. Can't wait until the second part of the game comes out.

Both games are great. The amount of work that went into both projects is tremendous. However, I am a big mgs fan, so gotta go with MGS4. Both games won a bunch of awards from numerous sites, so it really doesn't matter.

Only time LBP is fun to me is when I'm playing with my friends. That's when we're laughing our butts off.

Still think its a tough choice.

MGS4 was undoubtedly a technical masterpiece of developing.
LBP was a masterpiece of social, community and game play freedom.

Both were innovative, amazing and ground-breaking in their own right for what they achieved.

I'd probably say MGS4 at a pinch (and I stress at a pinch), but only because of its global success in comparison to LBP.

As far as the games themselves go, they're both epic in what they are and both equally deserving of GOTY for me. Just on opposite ends of the gaming spectrum.

Never played Little Big Planet -- just never really interested me, but I love MGS4. I will say I spent most of my time playing Bioshock. That game was awesome.

Both games could have only been created by one special company. But only one is an unrivaled epic.

Metal Gear Solid 4.
Dead Space is still my GOTY for 2008. Why the hell are there only two choices?
That's what I said!

Both are great games. LittleBigPlanet offered so much fun and creativity. However, Metal Gear Solid 4 had me put so much emotions into the game. I have never played another game that has story, complexity, and characters which I love so much as this game.

MGS4. Isn't really another game that should have been considered. Should have been every gaming sites GOTY.

In their defense.....MGS games do have overly long cut-scenes filled with tedious and preachy monologues. :(
