http://www.psu.com/news/24692/Silent-Hills-could-release-episodically-reveals-Hideo-Kojima

Speaking at Konami’s showcase event at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Kojima-san discussed how his development team were looking keenly at how television seasons were scheduled and consumed, and how a similar format may work for that of gaming audiences potentially.

It’s worth noting, however, that the type of release that Silent Hills will see hasn’t confirmed just yet.

Having been revealed not too long ago upon the completion of the interactive P.T. teaser, the Kojima-developed horror title is still a long way from any concrete release so it’s normal for developers to explore different avenues before deciding on the finer details of the game.

With such revered minds as Hideo Kojima and directorial bigwig Guillermo del Toro at the helm, and the likes of The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus starring, Silent Hills is already shaping up to be something truly special.

Would you welcome an episodic format for Silent Hills? Give us your opinions in the comments section below and stay tuned to PSU throughout the week for all the news from this year’s Tokyo Game Show.

NO fuck this shit. I have already contemplated quitting gaming all together thanks to this new trend of every game, even single player, needs dlc, and now episodic? RE:Revalations 2 is the test to see if a highly published game(not counting walking dead made by idie dev) can do episodic and I hope it does poor or else companies will see this and the dollar signs will ring up.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is 6 dollars per episode, 25 dollars for the full season with additional content or 40 dollars for the physical version with even more additional content. How is that a bad thing?

because this is how it starts small/ Look at DLC and microtransactions. They all started off small but as people bought them they became more the norm with higher prices and cutting content.

I think as long as there's an option to buy the full season or physical version then it won't be anything to worry about.

Episodic content isn't that new. Only bad example would be Half-Life as there hasn't been a 3rd episode. Valve is infamous with that though.

If it is at least 8-10 hours per episode then i'm fine with it.
Just another way to get around counting into oblivion.
However if they want to go the Walking Dead route and make it only last 1 hour per episode then they can jam it.
Don't know how that game gets away with it.

What do you mean? 3 of my telltale games have added up to 8-10 hours of content each for less than 20 bucks.

The last one I played was Ep 1 of season 2. It was extremely short.

EDIT: Ok just checked youtube and they have that episode last around 1 and a half hours, should only cost 5-10 bucks each at that length.
Don't they?

Also, wasn't siren blood curse episodic?
Siren was episodic, although I think they had options of buying per episode or the entire game as Europe also produced a disc at launch with everything on it.

Just checked the Sony store and Walking Dead is going for $7.55.... going quiet now :apthy:

(I'm sure it used to be more expensive....)

I wouldn't be able to complete it in one sitting (figuratively) anyway. I'm okey with it. If I could play any episode regardless of whether I completed the last - even better.

I would also much rather it would be a full game, episodic works for games like the Walking Dead etc but games like this I would say it would be the wrong call!
