I know they have been releasing stuff about Halo 3 every 2 weeks or so, but its getting close to spring time, and we know nothing. I would imagine all gameplay features will be in the beta, along with a few maps... so why aren't they starting to show us stuff?

Not that I imagine they would do it all the time, but don't you think it would make more sense to release more big info than simply "This is the spiker!" and thats it... Maybe they are trying to NOT build up hype... but that doesn't sound like Bungie.

Anyone else agree that this seems wierd, or am I over-analyzing?

See what they are doing is working. Not releasing any info is getting people to talk about the game, ie this thread.

You seem to be the only one complaining. The rest of us are more then happy to get an early build view of the game. I have my $100 legendary edition on pre-order and can't wait. :p

Considering that Bungie is only a component of MGS, it's not their position to be freely giving out info about Halo 3. IT's MGS that chooses when, how, and what to release in terms of the even slightest Halo 3 info.

I remember that during Halo 2's production, info was flowing freely, but because they released concept arts that never made it into the game, Halo 2 was overhyped and caused alot of grief with MGS and Halo 2. (ATV, Sprinting, Triple-melee, E3 Level, E3 Needler, list goes on)

www.halo2sucks.com - can attest to that.

As you can see, Bungie has no control over their info whatsoever, if it were them, we'd find out when the next game was already. But as you can see, when a big company like Microsoft buys you out, you lose all but your guaranteed freedoms so you don't quit and leave.

Guerrilla was the same way you know, it sucks, but well....Sony is Sony, Microsoft is Microsoft.

As much as I wish there was a ton of info and screen shots, at the same time, I don't... The wait is unbearable as is, let alone seeing all the greatness that is Halo, and not being able to play it for a while... It's a ways off yet, start showing it off mid/end summer thank you!

Well, I will get a taste of it since I caved and kept the Halo 3 Beta Game including Crackdown... (Plus my Gamefly plan only allows so many games out at once, and there's a couple 360 games I wanna try soon, and I had a couple bucks off coupons saved with them and subscriber discount, so it's wasn't a full taking of my money with a mask and a gun for it...)

You dont even know! I go days without sleep because Bungie showed me 3 second clip of halo!

You would have had you pre-order regardless, but people who were on fence got turned off by seeing an unfinished game.

dude i doubt you have 360 or would ever get halo 3. comments from trolls like you are worthless.

i think bungie has released quite a bit of info and they are releasing a beta soon so how much more info do you want? of couse, we're getting more info for mass effect which is great, but look at some other games i really want to get. there's been nothing for killzone 2. almost nothing for mgs4. ditto for ff 13. the only new anything for heavenly sword we've seen for months is from the tv show. so comapare to those titles bungie has shown more. but releasing beta six months before the game ships is ridiculous. getting to play a super anticipated game like that that early is pretty everything you could ask for.

Hey, give the guy a break. He wasn't trolling at all. He made a valid comment that was on topic for this thread. Oh and for what it's worth I happen to appreciate his view, I actually see where he's coming from on this because the early visibility stuff looked terrible.

What I would say though to Supaman is that some of that early stuff was unofficially released Alpha build. No one has actually seen any official footage since E3 a year ago. I expect a lot to have changed since then. In addition I would also consider a Beta product to pretty much be thereabouts close to final quality, Alphas are a mess, betas are a "test the water" phase.

Bungie is one of those companies that can build massive amounts of hype by saying absolutely nothing, and letting the fans speculate to high heaven.

guess they are working hard on the beta, which should explain a lot itself once we get our hands on it.

Yup. Agree totally.

Bungie should have STFU and left Halo 3 to develop without showing it off every week with these updates. I'm really disappointed with the likes of the textures on the ground on that screenshot of the Mongoose: i know 'It's just an Alpha shot' but i can't help but be disappointed.

There's also the argument that surely Bungie would be trying to show off the game so might as well release screenshots with high resolution, quality textures on them to show off the game, rather than the 'crappy alpha builds' they currently are releasing. You'd think they would be releasing final screenshots, no?

The beta is also a horrible idea. Granted, they will get 'data' from people playing it but then some players that otherwise would have been happy will be disappointed.

Think about this: Halo 3 hasn't been announced at all. No screenshots, no hints, no information. This continues all the way up to X07.

Then, last bit of Peter Moore's keynote speech at the X07 event is 'Oh, by the way, Halo 3 is shipping 4 weeks today'. How amazingly cool would that have been? A constant hype train for 4 weeks, and a great bundle of information otherwise unexpected selling a heck of a lot of 360s. I know there's the argument 'Oh, but people wouldn't have known, so won't have the money to buy Halo 3'. But there's Xmas, right?

Well, the game is due out in the Autumn so they don't really have to say much yet and it might still be 2 months before the BETA is out so there's very little need for them to give too much away.

Also, they have said that the contents of the BETA is still being determined so they might not have anything to tell us!

I personally think what they are doing is a big mistake in terms of showing it at such an early stage and also the Beta. Its not building any hype that way. I for one is less interested in Halo 3 now than I was say 5 months ago when nothing was shown.

I know I might get killed for saying this, but i think Halo 3 may potentially flop.

Actually I agree with Supaman, like that new weapon they showed a few days ago, horrible.
It just doesn't portray the game as a next-gen ownage application, it seems medicrore at best right now.

The strategy of SCE and Guerilla games keeping information on Killzone until they got a solid product is much, much more prefereable.

(IMO anyways)

I think it is a no win situation for Bungie because people would still be mad if they hadn't shown anything at all.

Some would, others wouldn't.

I'm not really mad at the fact that they show us these early screens/builds, I'm just getting a bit worried about the final outcome because of this.
It'd be better if they just kept it secret for as long as realistically possible.

All I can say is I am tired of waiting for info on the beta.

In one of the updates, it says that it could possibly be late spring when the beta comes out =/. Oh well, give them all the time they need to polish the game before the beta, because when you're having a public demo for one of he most anticipated games coming out on the 360, you'll need it.

All these Alpha shots have no impact on the general public...they give the hardcore Halo fans who care about a game a year before it's released something to look at. Something to talk about, and stay somewhat interested in.

I really don't understand why people would doubt the quality of graphics in Halo3. There are some great looking 360 games coming out before it's release. There is no way Bungie is "out of the loop" or behind any of these developers.

Look at Killzone, same thing. Possible demo around the same time the Halo 3 beta test? Pretty much the same release date? Neither MS or Sony wants to show their cards and then get stomped come November. The media around both these games, and comparisons are going to be ridiculous, they will definitely be the "western gamers" flagship titles for 07. It will be very important to both companies that they are at least comparible, a stomping either way will probably push alot of people sitting on the fence one way or the other going into christmas.

Personally I like Killzone better. I liked KZ1 despite it's flaws, more than halo and halo2. I like Halo just fine, I will buy it, but I won't be pre-ordering or lining up for it. Even though I hope Killzone cleans up, I just don't see it happening. I really think Halo will outshine it again even in the graphics department, I don't see the PS3 maturing enough in time to really be able to keep up let alone surpass what Bungie will put out there. I put no emphasis on the current screenshots, since they have been released there is pretty much a year left... for textures and polish that's a long, long time.

Anyhow on topic, I think it's going to be a media war come October and November, and you won't be able to go 2 webpages without seeing ads for either one. For now I really think it's a waiting game, neither one wants to put it all out there for the other to see.

They did the same for halo 2.... so of course they will do the same for halo 3. They know it will sell so they don't have to make the push to advertise it early on.

Thats actually pretty funny... lol

I was on the fence cause Halo:CE was amazing, and Halo 2 sucked my left testicle.

I saw some early footage of Halo 3 and decided that I would preorder the game. Most people that were on the fence were on the fence cause Halo 2 sucked compared to Halo:CE, and if anything, the footage shown from Halo 3 proves it to be MORE like Halo:CE than Halo 2. Who is getting turned off by this game?

There is a 15 minute MGS 4 trailer around for months, wtf are you talking about? I would personally prefer, say, Guerrilla to keep on holding info on Killzone until its ready to show.

But thats just me, I don't like to see games on their 'ugly stages' ;)

Well soon enough the Beta will be launched and we will get a lot more on the game. I know I will enjoy playing it and giving my insights.

But thats my whole point... they are going to have to release this info for when the beta comes out right? So why not build up hype by doing a little now? Just doesn't make sense to me, cause the impact will be less if they release it all at once (when the beta comes out).

Oh well I guess.
