To be fair, The PSP did break UK records which not even Nintendo could match, and we gotta remember that most people that brought the PSP are likely to hold back on buying a Vita due the PSP's short comings, despite it being a successful Handheld ( userbase wise )
I expect sales to brighten up later rather then then straight off the bat.

And the Go was a experiment, just like PSX was,

everyone knows this

I agree. Sony are going to be advertising Vita right through 2012 though, focusing on content and functionality as well, so I think a lot of these worries about the short comings may be dispelled as time goes on.
Latest like for like sales for the past week in Japan

Vita is screaming out for some games which support the eastern market. The launch software in the west has been very, very good.
I think FFX, Monster Hunter and Persona 4 will help the east.

I don't think it will fail like the PSPGo. The Vita's success will be more comparable with the PSP product line in general so I don't think there should be any worries there.

Like others have said in this thread and I'm sure Sony sees it the same way. Hardcore of the hardcore gamers buy the system first, sales will drop. Price cut near the holidays or march next year, then some of those hardcore gamers from 360/PS3 will start buying into the system for games like CoD. Sales will then be 'more' stable and healthy.

Next step is a new PSVita model, with smaller chip sizes, along with a price cut that allows casuals to buy into the portable. This is the market that Nintendo aims for on release, the 3DS kinda failed in this respect due to a super high price (same price as the Vita) which resulted in the 40% price cut which pretty much makes it affordable for the casuals. This will be when sales start looking very very good, as the handhold will look a lot more appealing when compared to the 3DS/IPhone with many great games. The handhold will stay at this price for a very long time while Sony recoups the cost of the launch.

Then the rest is..... future.
Persona 4 definitely will. Talking of those games, I have never played one! Are they good?
FFX is an amazing FF experience. The characters were cool, game play was solid and it looked amazing. Definitely worth getting if you haven't played it yet. I've only played abit of monster hunter but its a very popular rpg. I enjoyed what I played.

Oh low sales at launch! Doom and gloom for Sony! Hear ye hear ye! The end is nigh for Vita! :)

People on this forum sure do love their doom and gloom! Well if you measure success by your own standards I guess...But when you fail to, or don#t want to at least understand the perspective or plan of the company, it's to be expected.

Funny thing that the PSPGo failed... it's by far the best of the PSP models (in my opinion). I love mine, and will continue to use it as my Mp3 player once the Vita comes in.

It's silly in this thread that anyone is comparing the PSPGo that launched when PSP was almost an afterthought and it didn't have a UMD drive and had the same price as this monster has.
