Sony going after the ipad and DS.
I think this is pretty interesting just hope the price is right.
At long last, Sony has thrown its hat into the tablet ring, announcing two models on Tuesday code-named S1 and S2. The S1 is aimed at media consumption, while the dual-screen S2 is suited for communication (but can still play media).

Both tablets will feature responsive touch screens, Android 3.0, Wi-Fi, WAN (3G/4G), and a variety of Internet services. A "swift" Web browser promises faster loading times for Web sites on slower wireless connections (most likely borrowed technology from Opera, which has collaborated with Sony's Web browsers before). They will also be fully compatible with Adobe Flash (like other Honeycomb tablets).

The devices will become available worldwide starting in the fall.

Market is almost over saturated... IMO, but it is a giant market and Sony can't afford to miss it.

I am just glad it is using Android OS. Otherwise i wouldn't even look at it.

yeah i guess but competition is always good for consumers if you cant buy an ipad, galaxy tab, or that fancy asus tablet maybe u can pick up a S1 or S2. I could also see the S2 tablet being very successful because of its size even though i think its ugly. If Sony has an app store to back this up it could be a big hit.

i was discussing with one of my old professors and he told me that it is expected that tabulated computers are going to be owned by approximately 20 percent of american by 2020. Or maybe he said 20 years.

But i am not sure if they will be priced as low as you think. I think Sony is just jumping in because they expect the market to grow rapidly like my old professor.

The S2 is neat from a gadget point of view, but I think ultimately it's too gimmicky. The S1 does look very slick though.

The market is saturated with Android tablets, and they are mostly identical... custom launchers can make a big impression on people, and especially the styling. The S1 definitely nails the style.

They both look nice but I think they're too thick for my liking. That goes for just about all the tablets in my opinion.
