According to IGN the agency is cancelled.

3 studios closed, 205 positions cut.

Sony Online Entertainment has gone through a company-wide reorganization today, and in the process cancelled the long-developed massively multiplayer online project The Agency and closed studios in Denver, Colo., Seattle, Wash., and Tucson, Ariz.

The reorganization, which will eliminate approximately 205 jobs, was done to "reduce costs and streamline its global workforce." The company also cancelled The Agency, first revealed in 2007, so it could "focus development resources on delivering two new MMOs based on its renowned PlanetSide and EverQuest properties." SOE claims this move will not affect its current portfolio of titles available now, such as DC Universe Online.

The Agency was the only game from them that had me somewhat interested... Oh well. Huge waste of money in my opinion. April fools joke? I hope so, but doubt it.
What are the chances that i say they won't cancel the agency and the same day they cancel it. I really need to stop making predictions.
Well the game was meant to come out this year, so you'd think the game was getting near completion. So hard to believe that Sony would cancel the game unless they thought the game was turning out pretty bad..

Yeah, i wish something could've been done about it or a another developer could've finish the game for them, but i don't think it's gonna happen.
Sadly, this does not surprise me.

Duke had to come back for his gum and his Girls.

That's very true, i found it damn hilarious, too.

Yeah, this is pretty sad. I was really looking forward to it as well. :(

And there goes the only PS3 game I wanted. Sucks.
I guess PC gaming is the way to go since there are no interesting console exclusives anymore.

Good...it was probably going to be interesting to try it out but I did not see it going anywhere...nothing about the game screamed subscription MMO game.

I frankly care more about the folks that have worked long and hard on these titles that now have to search for jobs in a tough *** market. I didn't really care about these games so I am not that sad since there are enough exclusives to be excited about, but man, I hate to hear about studios closing.

Yepp!

This is sad though. The Agency was one of the games that, to me, was really interesting.

Sucks that a lot of people lost their job but the game did look like a mess really, we dont need more mediocre MMORPGS.
I suspect Agent will be cancelled as well.
Why exactly is that?

Its a completely different developer but since we haven't seen anything for ages I have to agree I think it'll be canned. If it doesn't make a showing at E3 this year then it probably is.

It was announced only a year and a half ago, Rockstar (especially north) are known to barely show anything until right until release.

Exactly right. This silence during development is very typical of Rockstar. Also I know that they hired a huge crew to work on this game and declared that it would be as sizable a project as GTA. Agent will be coming.
