Yeah I grew up on VHS tapes until around 1996 and 1997 when we started buying DVDs. We could only watch them on our computer at first and then eventually DVD players and PS2. I even remember some of the first DVDs we bought...the movies Broken Arrow and Face Off. This was when there were absolutely no special features, just the movie itself. As time went on, my brother and I would only buy DVDs that had special features, directors cuts, etc... I still have about 30-50 VHS tapes, about 175-275 DVDs, and 300-400 blu-rays.
Recent kids and kids today will never know the struggle to wait before the tape was wound backwards when you wanted to watch it. And making sure you don't watch so you don't see bits of it while it's going backwards.
Everytime I think of VHS I think of all the Disney video's I had as a child. I remember when my Mum and Dad got our first DVD player from a budget supermarket. I think it was the first digital picture I had seen on a television.
