Titanfall: Other Next-Gen Shooters Feel Quaint

I agree. Shooters now feel really stale and stiff. I really love how quick and open the gameplay looks in Titanfall; you can run along a wall and hop in through a window, fire at some enemies before jumping through another window and climb the back of a mech that's ripping up the street. It's very dynamic and versatile and it interests me far more than any of the other next-gen shooters I've seen. I'm happy it's coming to PC.

It's kind of odd, FPS for the last decade or so have been evolving out of the run and gun play concept, and have been moving more and move to cover based shooting, largely because this is more realistic. So here's Titanfall which seems very much built on a run and gun approach, not much use of cover at all, which makes modern shooters quaint... Not that I don't think the game is interesting, though the fact it is an always online multiplayer shooter means I'll likely never play it, even when it eventually moves over to the PS4.

If you have an Xbox 360, you can play it on there and not worry about buying an X1.

True, but with the PS4 inbound I don't see me keeping my 360 for long. Except if all the craze is on the 360 title.

I'm of the opinion that if I'm gonna play a next gen title I might as well do it on a next gen console. :D

Got fed up with Call of Duty during MW3 and Battlefield hasn't been as friendly during the majority of it's lifespan (Plagued with many errors; Player paid servers; be able to pay to unlock everything..). Hopefully this game follows the right path. It does look fun but with EA as their parent publisher, it's future is unlikely to be good unless they change their idiotic business models from this gen.

Too bad there isn't 360/Xbox One cross play. Do you buy the one that looks and plays better or the one that's gonna have more friends and players on it?

Although it's also coming to the PC, the multiplayer-only approach and it being exclusive to one console brand reminds me of something like Warhawk rather than a franchise that could be as popular as Call of Duty.

TotalBiscuit stated that the lines for Titanfall at PAX were massive. I'm happy so many people are giving the game attention as it'll encourage other developers to leap from the CoD-style gameplay formula.

Not for me unless I get it cheap for PC, however it does look fun. I don't play online (literally once in the last two years).

It's also going to be interesting to see how well a mp only game gets accepted going against the other fps top dogs(halo, cod and bf) that includes single player campaigns. Are people going to feel that it should be priced at $60?

looks like MS done well to get exclusivity on this (timed or otherwise), going to sell a lot of Xbox's.

Not for me. I've liked some mech games in the past...but this one doesn't really do that well from what I've seen. And the running on walls and hoping around with packs....just tedious. Last thing I want is shooting someone and having them flying off and jumping around like crackheads. Doesn't appeal in the least bit....won't pick it up when it comes to PS4 that is for damn sure. For those that like that kind of shooter....looks absolutely PERFECT. I will say I'm more of a realistic shooter fan. I like my games with some team work and tactics...not a big fan of run and gun loners. For those that do...and I'm sure there are tons...looks like a solid game.
Could this be the next "CoD"?
short answer, no.
while it's definitely a step above COD in many ways, it looks too complicated for the casuals imo.

me personally, not a big sci-fi fan but it still looks cool, though i don't play MP sci-fi shooters, i would've liked an MMO like this as this looks more interesting than destiny but not as a competitive MP game.

COD: Ghosts looks more interesting to me.

I would go gaga over it if this game was open-world...but then there is Planet Side 2 which should hold me off.
