I agree, loved the likes of FF7, FF8, MGS, Ocarina of Time etc etc. 2007 wouldn't be far behind for me though.

Strange they didn't mention Streets of Rage in the 91/92 years :(.

Indeed, for me year 2007 was filled with disappointment.
So many games with a real promise, but most of them didn't go far enough from mainstream thus any chance to be classic was lost.

Outside of some JRPGs, I do not see single game from year 2007 that I would like to play again after 5-10 years and this is a bad sign for a year in general.

To me 2007 was most overhyped year yet. People hype games so much because of console wars and give 10/10 points to games not because of the game itself but because of the hypes. This is how I see this generation too =/

I have all 3, and I still stand by the fact that 2007 was NOT the best year in gaming.

2001 - GTA 3, MGS 2, FF X, Halo (that's just some of them), sorry but I can't see 2007 besting that.

2004 was also missed out. :(

2004 - GTA: SA, Halo 2, MGS 3

07 - Bioshock, Super Mario Galaxy, Call of Duty 4, Crysis, God of War 2, Crackdown, Halo 3, Orange Box....was awesome.

Thanks to the Rock Band that makes Game Party of The year, and seriously that COD 4 is hyping more then Halo 3. I guess that why it makes the no.1 game of the year. If wasn't those two, I am sure 1998 would came on top.

2007 was the most overrated year in gaming history. Mass Effect Crysis Crackdown were just three high profile games(Trash) that were force fed to the public. Halo 3 SP was laughable at best. And no mention of Uncharted smacks of fanboyism. The best games of the year were Bioshock, Uncharted, COD4 and Mario. Hardly equaling the best year in gaming history.

It was more like 07 was the best 4th quarter in gaming. I definetly agree though 07 is the best, just the number of AAA games that came out was crazy.

I bolded note-worthy releases.

2001 - MGS 2 (Legendary game), Halo (started the legacy known as Halo, and defined the Xbox), Final Fantasy X (Next gen Final Fantasy, 'nuff said), Devil May Cry (beginning of a legend), GTA III (First 3D GTA), Pikmin...and more (let me dig up some game names)

Been gaming since the Atari 2600 days..... 2007 was the best year i have had gaming. And it wasnt just the amazing games that came out..imo Xbox Live is the main reason why gaming is so great these days

It's quality not quantity. Plus 2007 was just last year so it's easy to remember all the games even the half decent ones while 2001 was 7 years ago. :(

Crackdown is a better game than Pikmin (Pikmin it s good game, but it isn't that great). BioShock has a story that owns them all, same with Mass Effect. CoD4 has better multiplayer than the original Halo. Super Mario Galaxy owns them all except for Halo. It is still 6 vs 11. I would choose 2007 every time.
