From the pages of IGN:

People can stream from their PlayStation 4 to their PlayStation Vita, but a newly developed program hopes to bring remote play functionality to the PC as well.

Appropriately named Remote Play PC, the unofficial program sets out to do exact as its straightforward name implies: turning your PC into a recognizable remote play device, and letting your PS4 stream gameplay to it.

The developer of the program, who goes by the name Twisted, has some experience with Sony's hardware and getting the remote play feature to work on unsupported devices. The official version released for Android was limited to Sony Xperia phones and tablets, but Twisted managed to get it to work on a much wider range of Android devices.

Back in June, he announced his plans for the PC version of the software, and now he's preparing to release the first version of it this Wednesday, November 25. It will be $10 to use, however. As Twisted explains in a blog post, charging money for it would allow him to keep working on the program and providing user support.

"I’d like to work on this project full time, adding features, getting it stable and porting it to other platforms which I know a lot of you want," he said. "The only way to support this is to charge for the app, all my previous projects have been free and I don’t want to have to but sadly its the only way to support my living costs."

Currently, only the Xbox One has official console to PC streaming capabilities. We'll have to wait and see if Sony has plans to do the same, and if the company will respond to Twisted's latest program.
Think it's a great idea for people who want to stream the PS4 to their PC like the X1 but couldn't and for a small one off payment on $10 it won't break the bank (no doubt people will still want it to be free though) good if you don't like using the Vita or have no Android phone

Yes yes, seen it pop up.
I'm down for this!
It's interesting and can be useful, especially for those who want to record... Can stream from PS4 and record as much and as configured as you want from PC if it works fluidly enough.
I'll be testing it out though! :)

Sony's had its Remote Play tech in one form or another since the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, but it didn't truly take off until its implementation on PlayStation 4and the PS Vita handheld. But that's kind of wasted when nobody is buying the Vita and it's getting zero love from its parent company. Remote Play PC is exactly what its name implies: an application that tricks the PS4 into thinking a PC is a Remote Play device. Microsoft changed the game (sorry) with the ability for the Xbox One to stream its gamesto Windows 10-based hardware and until Sony catches up we're just going to have to settle for an unofficial app that costs money to perform the task.
The developer (operating under the pseudonym "Twisted") says that the reasoning for charging for the application is to help make ends meet while working on it full time. "The only way to support this is to charge for the app, all my previous projects have been free and I don't want to have to, but sadly it's the only way to support my living costs," Twisted writes. In case you're curious about how it works before dropping the $10 (£6.50) on Wednesday, there's a video just below. It honestly looks like a better experience than Sony's PlayStation Now game streaming service, but until we go hands on with it for ourselves it's hard to tell exactly how this will work out in the wild.
Why would anyone even want this? Because while streaming to the Vita (or certain Android devices) works, having a bigger screen to play Fallout 4 or Until Dawn while traveling without the hassle of taking a PS4 through airport security honestly sound really awesome. There's also mouse and keyboard support. The question is how long Sony will let this slide before issuing a cease and desist. As homebrew and console hacking siteWololo points out, folks who pay for the app could be out their hard-earned money if the company steps in and shuts this down.

I don't know why so many people are into streaming. Even minor latency kills me. Useful for recording but not much else.

Well, it means I can bugger off to my bedrom and play a game while my wife watches TV.
Online Halo and Gears matches work perfectly so I'm not sure there is that much latency.

Hope Sony officially support it, every man should be liberated from his wife's viewing habits! :)

This, not everyone has a man cave that they can go hide in so this is the perfect solution and lets be honest, the majority of households have a PC or laptop now so like the ability to do it with the X1 it makes perfect sense!

Will be interesting to see if you can stream in 1080p rather than 720p on the PS TV.

It's 1 of my negatives about PS TV, some games look a little washed out compared to playing on PS4.

this is probably good for a very small number of people.

you know what would make me really really really happy right now? if they allowed custom button mapping saves individual for each game.

I dont see why not, the vita only had a 544p screen, there was no reason to send it more. And thats really all the PS TV was,

With the majority of tvs 1080p the PSTV should have been capable to output this resolution IMO.
Why can't PSTV do 1080p if they upgraded it from the Vitas 544p to 720p? Surely would've made sense to just support the resolution the game plays at or is the device not capable?
On the other hand though does the device really do alot of work as such to display the image, I didn't think so? Fully hardwired shouldn't cause any latency differences would it from 720p to 1080p?

When they updated remote play to support 60fps is it not odd that a higher resolution wasn't also added in the update?
