Here's another straight-forward pricing poll on the PS3. Please answer pretending that the PS3 meets all your expectations and has the feature set that we've been told. Also, we'll assume that the PS3 comes with nothing but the cables and a 60GB hard drive.

I think it will go for 400 dollars, maybe 450. If they go higher people will buy the 360, if they go lower they will kill the 360 on the 1st day.

about 400 - 500 USD in my thinking

they are going to make a huge loss at that price anyway

i dont think they would be willing to go any lower

that means i will have to pay about £300 :(

I think it will be between $350-$450. I hope if doesn't get to $500, but I will still pay. I would be happy with any price between $350-$400.

That's nothing, I've seen X360 bundled with LCD TVs at 2000+

The PS3 will be $399 at launch and will come with one wireless controller, a USB cable for recharging it, a Composite/Component cable, a power supply, a UTP network cable, and a Blu-ray disc with game demos, and songs/movie trailers from Sony's entertainment studios. Hdd will not be standard.

Although there will be no hard drive in the system, an 80 to 100 gig Hdd packaged with Linux will be available at launch instead (ranging in price from $100 to $130). For game saves, the 256mb MSduo will retail for $50, like it is now. Wireless controllers will range in price from $40 to $50. A 3 foot silver HDMI 2.0 cable will be available at launch as well and will retail for $50. 1st party Sony titles will retail for $50, and 3rd party will retail for $60.

You can quote me on the first paragraph, because that is what will happen, garunteed. The second paragraph is simply educated speculation. Mark my words, because the first paragraph will happen.

The PS3 will cost $499 CND (thats equivilent to $399 USD) For gamers, the USA has it way better than Canadians. In Canada, all the systems released are almost always $100 more than the same system in the United States. I paid $299 for the PSP value pack alone, no game or movie included. Games here are always $10 more than the same game in the USA.
How much would i pay for just the system and acessories? I would be willing to pay up to $800

psp had no close competition
in NA, ps3 has tough competition with the 360.

Here's how I see it:

Japan: $500US just because their home country will pay extra for the ps3 no matter
what.

NA&Europe: $350US the only price that will make NA's and europeans realize that
buying the ps3 is a better deal and the right console.

Dude who freaking said it would be over $700 dollars?

It'd need to come with a built in dish washer, and better the hell be a grill if I'm paying that.

Straight console should be $400-$500 dollars,..700...

The grill part is already included if you have seen some of the photoshopped pictures on the internet.

I expect the PlayStation 3 to be priced at 499 USD. At this price, SONY takes an acceptable loss, and the console becomes more affordable for consumers.

The only challenge to SONY isn't going to be in the short run, it will be in the long run. People who "have" to have the PlayStation 3 will sell out the first shipments. SONY shouldn't have too much difficulty here.

The problem SONY will face is a possible price drop by Microsoft, alluring the undecideds. By then, the 360 should have multiple titles to allure multiple audiences. Also, I expect almost all heating/drive problems to be gone.

So yess, I believe 499 is the price the PlayStation 3 will debut at. Unless Ken pull another PS1 ( Making a 299 USD price announcement for the PS2 to challenge the dreamcast), things should stay this way.

Capcom representatives have said that the publisher shares little concern over Resident Evil 5’s competition within the horror genre, citing the fact it is working hard to enhance the quality of the highly anticipated Survival Horror outing.

Speaking during a Q&A session following the company’s Q1 financial results, a Capcom representative commented, “The Resident Evil series has strong brand power and a special game concept, which builds a new view of the world that you can’t find in any other games.”

“Capcom is not all that concerned about competition with distribution titles, since the quality of our Resident Evil 5 is also being enhanced. Rather, we are at the stage of devising strategies to expand its sales further.

Resident Evil 5 takes place ten years after the events of the original game, placing gamers in control of series veteran, Chris Redfield, who has been dispatched to Africa along with newcomer Sheva Alomar to investigate the latest bio-terrorism threat.

The game hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 13, 2009.
