Fairly good up to this point, they've openly admitted their mistakes in the PlayStation 3's launch window and have capitalized on Microsoft's initial slip-ups when revealing the Xbox One. They've tried to show that they're about gaming first and foremost, and they've also evoked nostalgia and a sense of inclusion with their most recent advert campaign. They're played off the positive reaction the PlayStation 4 has garnered and are aiming to show that they're listening to the consumers, too. All and all they haven't done too much wrong in the past year and I highly imagine that will continue in the run up and after the PlayStation 4's launch.
It's been phenomenal to be honest. Compared to their early commercials for the PS3 (e.g. crying baby), it's a night and day difference. Not a day goes by where I DON'T see a PS4 commercial. That commitment to showcasing the PS4 will definitely continue post-launch IMO. MS has a big contract with the NFL so we'll see a ton of Xbox One commercials in the US. Sony has to counter that.

Very true. Americans are most susceptible to Marketing gimmicks. "Wow, NFL and XBOX, i want one!" really? I've finally in recent months met some of the stupidest people on earth, and i'm approaching 40. I mean, tribal ethiopians have 1000x the common sense of one person I'm talking about. At least they natives are built to survive.
So, we got some STUPID PEOPLE here. I'm sure they are everywhere, but i'm convinced we have a special kind of stupidity from overabundance sometimes.
SONY's gonna need to advertise. Just put the PS4 onscreen with some average caucasian and dark folks having fun and they should be fine. Killzone is good because it's a combat game where your NOT killing a certain special target group of folk who ALSO love video games and want to be thought of as customers and not targets on the otherside of the Battlefield. Knack for kids, and the other games, just advertise during the NFL , at affilliate level if they have to.
So far so good. Very much theatrical and I've enjoyed them. Even the Taco Bell commercial (and I hate Toxic Hell.)
I liked the PS3 initial commercials as well, but as mentioned, they seemed to be much more sparse when they came out. It may also be the fact that I end up seeing a lot more commercials embedded in Video startups. I've noticed them a fair amount during football games which is good.
It may be my imagination, but it seems like MS hasn't had a lot of airtime on XB1 commericials. I only recall seeing the 'NFL on XB1' commercial once on TV - and I don't recall seeing any others on TV itself.
I honestly think this marketing strategy they are doing is great. First you have 'Greatness Awaits' and with the 'Perfect Day' campaign at the same time, man it makes me happy, proud and excited at the same time. I think the 'Greatness Awaits' will be done throughout the PS4 life but I am wondering what else do they have in store. Either way Sony needs to keep up with what it is doing right now.
