Announced at CES 2009, Sony and the New York Yankees have teamed up to offer a brilliant Sony-experience throughout the baseball clubs new stadium that opens this Spring. In order to further this relationship, Sony has utilized their upcoming exclusive baseball title, MLB 09: The Show as a way to take fans of the sport on a virtual tour of the aforementioned stadium.
Of course, it was quite difficult for the team at SCE San Diego to recreate a stadium in which blueprints were not made available to them. This created quite the trouble however Jody Kelsey, producer of the title, let MTV Multiplayer in on how they achieved the virtual representation of the stadium.
“We asked, and unfortunately, that didn’t work out,” Kelsey told MTV Multiplayer. “It was one of those things where the stadium is under construction and, if something happens … well they just don’t let it happen.”
“When you look at it you see the old Yankee Stadium. You see so many facets of the old stadium that they kept for people who have been there,” he said. “When you see the new stadium this year, and when you see it in our game, you’ll realize that we did need it.”
So, without further ado, let's check out how well the development team did.
