Insomniac Games has confirmed that it is not developing Resistance 4 for PS4, and says the future of the IP is firmly in the hands of platform holder Sony.
Writing in response to a fan on Twitter regarding the future of the Chimera-blasting series, the Ratchet & Clank creator commented:
@carvsdabomb Sony would make that call. They own the IP. We don’t do remasters or ports. We have no plans to develop R4 either.

Pleasingly however, the studio did offer a brief update on the forthcoming PS4 entry in the Ratchet & Clank series. Check it out below.
@DarrenStewart94 we have no new information to give on Ratchet & Clank for PS4 besides that it’s coming along well!

Resistance launched back in 2006 alongside the PS3 for its U.S. launch and was followed by two sequels: Resistance 2 (2008) and Resistance 3 (2011).
The game also received two portable titles in the shape of Resistance: Retribution (2009, PSP) and Resistance: Burning Skies (2012, PS Vita).
Despite its success, the future of the franchise remains unknown at this point.
