GK Films and Square Enix have debuted the first trailer for the upcoming Tomb Raider movie starring Alicia Vikander.

The trailer comes just a few days after the controversial movie poster, and clearly displays the influence that the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot has had on the project.

Vikander’s Lara Croft is seen embarking on a voyage by boat to locate a hidden tomb, following clues left behind by her deceased father. However, she is soon shipwrecked on a mysterious island and finds herself battling against an organisation known as Trinity.

The film’s creators have clearly naild the aesthetic of the Tomb Raider reboot, with Vikander sporting identical weapons and clothing to her videogame counterpart. Even some of the set pieces appear to have been ripped straight from the game.

The cast also includes Walton Goggins as Father Mathias Vogel, Daniel Wu as Lu Ren, and Dominic West as Lord Richard Croft.

Tomb Raider is due to hit cinemas in March 2018. Check out the trailer below.
