Devil May Cry 5 to have "western touch," says Capcom

Capcom’s global head of production Keiji Inafune has indicated that the developer plans on injecting a bit of a “western touch” in to Devil May Cry 5 in order to stimulate sales of the franchise outside of Japan.

Apparently, while acknowledging that the stylish hack n’ slash series maintains a loyal fan base, the company is keen to see more sales out of the franchise in western territories.

“Devil May Cry 5 is a game that, when started development, this will change a lot in relation to the above,” Inafune told Spanish site 3Djuegos.

“The reason is that, despite the franchise has some very loyal followers, their sales are not particularly high, especially overseas.”

“For this reason, it is likely that in the fifth chapter will incorporate certain western touch to make it more attractive to American and European players.”

Capcom hasn’t formally announced Devil May Cry 5 as of yet, though rumors have linked the sequel to Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory. Unsurprisingly, the studio has refused to confirm or deny it’s involvement with the game.
