Ubisoft has confirmed that it will be moving to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S for future Assassin’s Creed games following the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which looks to be the final entry for PS4 and Xbox One.
Speaking during an interview with VGC, Assassin’s Creed chief Marc-Alexis Cote confirmed that current-gen is the way forward for the franchise, beginning with Assassin’s Creed Codename Red.
We wanted to mark a change technologically and gameplay-wise as we’re moving to a fully next-gen – or current gen, I guess we call it – with the PS5 and the Xbox Series X.

Assassin’s Creed Code Red is the series’ first stab at a Japanese setting, and will form part of Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a hub that all major games in the series will be released on. Following this will be Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, which is reportedly based on the witch hunts in Europe.
Ubisoft announced during a special broadcast on Saturday evening that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is launching for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One in 2023.
