David Goldfarb, the Lead Designer and Lead Writer on Battlefield Bad Company 2, has said he’s up for making a new entry in the popular franchise if EA is interesting in reviving the series.
Speaking with PCGamesN, Goldfarb revealed that he already has an idea of where Battlefield Bad Company 3 would take place as he’s already drafted ideas, but expressed doubt it would ever see the light of day due to the current development climate.

I am right here. They [EA] know where I am if they want to do one.
There aren’t games like [Bad Company] at that production quality anymore. Most big productions will not take those bets because they believe they can look backwards to predict successes and looking backwards makes Bad Company and its humor and approach look like an anomaly. As with all these fucking places, that’s why we don’t see those kinds of games anymore, because economics and risk aversion and all the other shit turn people away from it. In many ways, Bad Company 2 was a perfect storm, though. I don’t know if we could do it again like that.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 was released in March 2010 for PS3, PC, and Xbox 360, although sadly EA announced last year that it would be delisting the game alongside the likes of Battlefield 1943 and the original Bad Company from digital storefronts at the end of April that year.
As for the future of the Battlefield franchise as a whole, EA is currently working on the next chapter in the series, with the latest rumours via Insider-Gaming claiming that the new Battlefield will take play between 2027 — 2020. Furthermore, it is also reported that the game will feature 45 different weapons at launch, which is doubt the amount seen in Battlefield 2042.
