Blizzard Reportedly Planned Netflix Shows For Diablo, Overwatch, And Warcraft But Plans Fell Apart Due To Lawsuit

Blizzard Entertainment was reportedly planning to bring Diablo, Overwatch, and Warcraft shows to Netflix, but plans were scrapped after Activision Blizzard sued the streaming giant for “poaching” one of its executives, thereby breathing Californian employed law.

That’s according to Bloomber’s Jason Schreier, who claimed in a Reddit thread on his new book, Play Nice, that the lawsuit was filed in December 2020, so the plans haven’t been on the cards for nearly four years now. Responding about the Netflix plans, the journalists linked to a story about the Activision Blizard lawsuit, which indicated this was the reason for the cancellation of the shows.

Reports about Diablo and Overwatch being adapted for Netflix shows date back to 2020, where it was reported by Slash Gear that the Diablo show would have been an anime. Barely any info was known about the Overwatch Netflix series however. As previously reported, Schreier’s book also revealed that Blizzard is working on a new StarCraft game.
