Naoki Hamaguchi, the director on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, has said that players shouldn’t expect any DLC for the PS5 RPG, as the team want to focus on getting part 3 of the remake trilogy out as soon as possible.
FFVII Rebirth owners can’t be blame for wanting to see DLC, as Final Fantasy VII Remake receive the Yuffie-centric expansion, Episode Intermission. However, this time around there won’t be any new content released for the latest entry in the remake project. Here’s what Hamaguchi-san had to say during a chat with DailyStar:
We definitely do hear the desire from fans, the voices out there that want that kind of thing. I understand it completely, but I think, from my perspective, what the fans really want to see the most is not necessarily DLC. They want to see the third part of the series as quickly as possible.

So that’s why we’ve decided not to focus the development resources on creating additional extra episodes for DLC at the moment. We really are putting all our efforts into getting the third game out as quickly as we can. So for the moment, that’s where we’re focusing our time.
Speaking in a separate interview with Eurogamer, Hamaguchi revealed that he was ‘blown away‘ by the game’s performance on the PS5 Pro when he saw it running on the console for the first time.
