Death Stranding developer Kojima Productions has said that it will consider taking legal action against those who spread fake rumors.
The developer’s comments come following the shocking assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, on Friday, after which Hideo Kojima was misidentified by a Greek news station as the killer.
Images of Kojima misidentified as the assassin were aired during the new station’s segment on Abe’s attack. In addition, a viewer got in touch with website Kotaku to translate what was actually been said during the section where Kojima’s image was shown.
Tetsuya has confessed to his actions to the police, admitting that he wanted Abe dead because he was disappointed and upset with him. The police have learned that he [the culprit] had served in the Navy Special Forces and taught a unit in Medical School on Physiotherapy for dementia patients. He was passionate about Che Guevara.
Kojima-san’s development studio posted on Twitter that it clearly doesn’t take kindly to false info being spread, threatening legal action where necessary.
