Square Enix will retain possession of the Life is Strange, Outriders and Just Cause franchises following its sale of westerns to Embracer Group for $300 million.
While these key series will remain with Square Enix, who said to investors that it’s not shelving its western gaming business entirely, Embracer Group is still hoovering up a wealth of its IP, with some 50 franchise thought to now be under the company’s umbrella.
These include the likes of Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, Tomb Raider, Thief, and many more, and Embracer has already said that it intends to develop new instalments in these classic franchises. We already know that a new Tomb Raider is in the works at Crystal Dynamics, for example.
