Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 release date confirmed, gets new gameplay video

It’s been a full year since we first caught a glimpse of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, and after an unfortunate delay, we now not only have a confirmed release date, but a new gameplay trailer as well.

The game is set to launch on February 5, 2016 in North America and Europe, and will be the final game developed by CyberConnect2 for the Ultimate Ninja Storm series. From the footage below, it’s clear that CyberConnect2 intends to go out with a bang, with the new gameplay trailer showing epic battles from the Fourth Shinobi World War.

Although there are similarities and crossover of gameplay functionality from previous Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm games, Bandai Namco is doing its best to explain the game’s new systems before its release, such as the ability to change your playable character during battle to one of your previously selected party members. This will allow for a bit more strategy during a fight, like when you’re getting a beat down from long range, pull out a long range fighter yourself and give him a taste of his own medicine. However, there will be cool down period attached to switching characters to avoid exploitation of this new feature. There will also be an inclusion of fire damage as well in classic damage over time style, where you continue to lose damage for as long as the fire persists. The game will also feature an adventure mode as well as network battles. Not to mention of course, new playable characters

It is a shame to see CyberConnect2 go from the Ultimate Ninja Storm series, as they have done an outstanding job at being true to a show with a very dedicated fan base, and created a series of games that one could argue, almost look better than the show itself. I personally would love to see them get their hands on another Manga inspired game, just to see what comes of it, and I’m sure we’ll get to.
