PlayStation has announced they are partnering with Firewalk Studios for a brand new AAA multiplayer IP, which the team are already hard at work on.

Announced on the PlayStation Blog, this new IP is described as an “original multiplayer game”, with the team growing over the last year to help build the title. Firewalk Studios also hold daily playtests within their studio and their goal with this new game is to “deliver that same joy to gamers and we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on when the time is right.”

This game from Firewalk Studios will be their first title and is made up of talent from a variety of the best multiplayer games released, such as Halo, Destiny, Call of Duty, and Apex Legends. PlayStation has been working with Firewalk Studios for the last two years.

In an interview with IGN, Herman Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios said that:

“At PlayStation Studios, we’re storytellers, and, not exclusively, because I do believe we have a distinctive and diverse slate of games, but some of our most loved games are indeed single-player character-based narrative experiences. And we’ll always carry on and continue to make those.”

“This team here at Firewalk, they’re also storytellers, and, in their legacy and their history, they have a past of innovating, of being incredibly daring when it comes to trying out new things. And when they’re ready, they should speak about how they’re innovating in storytelling and the narrative part of games, particularly in the multiplayer sphere.”
