Sony says it’s ‘too early’ to announce Project Morpheus price

The president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS) has said it’s ‘too early’ to announce pricing details for Project Morpheus.

Speaking with GI.biz, Shuhei Yoshida said that Sony still has a few things to work out before it can nail down a price for its hotly anticipated VR device.

"We are talking about launching next year so typically we don’t talk about pricing one year ahead of time. I think we announced the price of PS4 at E3 the year of the launch so that’s five months before the launch. So it’s too early. It’s not like we are waiting for Oculus to announce their price. We still have work to do to know exactly the cost of goods and so on."

Project Morpheus is due out in the first half of 2016, and was featured briefly during Sony’s E3 2015 press conference last month. Sony previous said that consumers will have to spend ‘several hundred dollars‘ on the device.
