Cross-over brawler Tekken x Street Fighter is still ‘under development,’ according to Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada.
The Tekken producer took to Twitter to address the lack of updates on the title, which has been keeping a low profile since its announcement nearly three years ago.
“I said ‘under development’ few days ago. We are changing & considering platform strategy. That’s why we don’t say anything. Thx."
His comments regarding platform strategizing are particularly intriguing. Street Fighter x Tekken was a PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, PC and Xbox 360 game, and it was assumed Namco’s take on the project would follow a similar pattern.
However, Harada-san’s comments indicate this may not be the case; could we be seeing Tekken x Street Fighter on PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720? This is just speculation on our part, but it’s a possibility.
Tekken x Street Fighter utilizes the 3D engine of the Tekken series, and as of April 2012 is about 10 per cent complete, according to Harada-san. No images or footage on the project have ever been released since its unveiling at the San Diego Comic-Con 2010.
