The Division movie announced, stars Jake Gyllenhaal & Jessica Chastain

Ubisoft Motion Pictures has announced it is working on a movie adaptation of Tom Clancy’s The Division.

Speaking in a post on its official blog, Ubisoft confirmed that the movie will feature the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain, who will also be involved in the project via their respective production companies, Nine Stories and Freckle Films.

The project is still in the early stages of development, so it’s not yet known what direction the film will take. The game itself is based in New York City in wake of a pandemic that cripples the infrastructure of the United States in a matter of weeks.

Of course, Ubisoft has a number of movies in the pipeline based on its popular videogame franchises, such as Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and Watch Dogs. The Assassin’s Creed film is first out the gate this holiday season.
