Update – The PS4 media player update has launched for PlayStation VR, confirming that users will be able to watch porn on sites that support it. It’s now just a matter of time. We’ve also spoken with VRPorn.com post-PlayStation VR launch, who believe it won’t be long before we’re watching PSVR porn through the PS4 browser.
To paraphrase Salt N’ Pepa, let’s talk about PS4 porn, and more specifically the potential for virtual-reality porn on PlayStation VR.
Though many of us aren’t going to wave our hands in the air and admit that we watch porn, its popularity on PlayStation 4 isn’t that much of a dirty little secret.
In fact, there’s been a few surveys conducted by porn companies, including SugarDVD’s PS4 vs Xbox One porn streaming survey, which shows that PS4 owners watch 2.6 times more porn than Xbox One owners, and even tend to favour the ‘Amateur,’ ‘Big Butts’ and ‘Asian’ categories.
So, with the arrival of PlayStation VR in October, it’s no wonder that some PS4 owners are eager to find out whether they’ll be able to don the headset and enjoy some adult movie action.

VR Pornhub on PS4?
Well, Pornhub, a pornographic video sharing site where you can stream videos of the XXX kind, is certainly looking to support PlayStation VR. In fact, they already have a VR Pornhub section.
We contacted the premier purveyors of porn to ask them if they had plans to support porn on PS4 in terms of virtual-reality entertainment for PlayStation VR, and this is what Chris Jackson from the Pornhub press team told us:
“To answer your question, we do have plans to support it, if there is an open platform to load 3rd party videos.”
At the moment, Sony has a closed platform when it comes to porn on PS4. The fact that PS4 does not have a dedicated porn app, despite the best efforts of Pornhub in the past, suggests that Sony aren’t at all open to providing what would be considered an acceptance of such apps. We can’t see that philosophy changing with the release of PlayStation VR either.
It pretty much sounds like Pornhub are saying that if you can load their VR videos from your PlayStation browser (sneak in through the backdoor, if you like), then you’ll pretty much be able to watch VR porn from Sony’s console.
No PS4 porn on PlayStation VR could spell disaster
In an interview with the Daily Star (a fitting source is there ever was one) earlier this year, one porn-hosting site, Naughty America, said – in a reference to how Sony didn’t support the adult industry – that PlayStation VR “could go the same way as the Betamax tape” if they don’t support it this time.They also make reference to how Sony initially backed Blu-Ray over DVD.
“Hopefully Sony won’t make the same mistake because, otherwise, the adult industry and consumers are going to put their weight behind another contender,” said Naughty America CIO, Ian Paul.
So, will Sony finally concede and allow a fully-fledged PlayStation VR porn app for PS4, or will lovers of adult content on PlayStation 4 have to continue getting their kicks from the browser?
Well, at the very least, VR Pornhub is certainly ready to greet PlayStation VR owners with open, embracing arms.
