Developer Bluepoint’s highly anticipated Demon’s Souls Remake, along with the PS5 are both so close to release, and more exciting news is being revealed each day. The latest info comes from an interview with Gavin Moore, Creative Director for Bluepoint, which reveals some of the new ways Demon’s Souls will use the PS5 DualSense’s haptic feedback.
“You can feel arrows rush past your head in this game. It’s quite disturbing,” says Moore. “I play the game and I move my head sometimes”. What’s even more interesting is how the haptics will affect gameplay according to Moore. When discussing the combat, he said “You can feel metal strike metal. You can feel it in your hands when you make a perfect parry to give you the counterattack. You can feel the block was correct. I hit home. I felt it hit home. I know I gave that boss damage, and I can get out there, move back and wait for their attack to come in. So it actually makes the gameplay better and it makes the game feel a little bit easier.”
Muscle memory and sense memory are key factors when it comes to gameplay in any FromSoftware title, and the haptics being able to give the player precise vibrations and immerse you further in the game is extremely exciting for new, and returning players. On top of the new immersion features in the Dualsense, Moore talked about the fact that Demon’s Souls will have more than 180 different Game Help videos available from the PS5 UI.
The PS5 and Demon’s Souls release on November 12, 2020, in the US and November 19, 2020, in the EU and UK.
